Both my Nordie and the DR650 have the best bottom and mid range on 91.

Gordies Garage has AvGas on tap for those who need it....

    KLX & 98 Octane

Definitely interesting as my KLX would benefit from a bit more go - I'll try a few tanks of 98 and report back.

    Cheers Bish

This is the reply I got from BP, when I asked why 98 cannot be purchased in Nelson..............

It is unfortunate that BP Ultimate is not
available in the Nelson Region but due to the logistics of such a unique
    product.

BP Ultimate can only be stored in Lyttelton.
Currently the fuel we deliver to the Nelson region comes from the Port
Nelson Terminal. BP Ultimate needs to be held in a separate tank from
other products. All the tanks at Nelson terminal are already in use
storing enough of the other grades to service the local market so there
is not a spare tank available for BP Ultimate.

To deliver BP Ultimate to Nelson from Lyttelton another truck would need
to be put on the road to make a special delivery and given allowed
driver hours it is unlikely it could be achieved in one trip.

The costs involved in doing this mean that we wouldn't be able to offer
the product at a price which customers would accept.

Again I sympathise with the fact that BP Ultimate is not available in
Nelson but hope from my explanation you see that it is not as simple as
    it may seem.

Good reply, and thanks for sharing it.

Octane booster might be your best bet then. Try to find consumer reviews as most of them are complete rubbish. IIRC the single-function octane boosters are better, but additive packages that include octane boosters don't.

Must admit, I've used 'power pills' in the past in my Triumph Trophy (planed head bumped CR from 10.6 to ~11.5) on 95 RON and couldn't pick any difference at all. Later with high-comp pistons taking CR to 13.9, running 98 wasn't noticeable, either. But a 250 works a lot harder so may very well be noticed.
    Cheers,
    Colin
