    Honda X4

Should I buy one if I get the opportunity?

Carpal tunnel means I don't get a lot of pleasure from sportsbikes at the moment, although I'll probably still buy them as ornaments for my garage.

I rode my father in laws one yesterday, and whilst the brakes were ghey, it sure seemed to accelerate ok, especially given the weight. Was good on the wrists, so started thinking...

A lot of cast alloy crap on it (footpeg hangers, grab rails etc), and a huuuuge exhaust... I'm pretty sure that with a little carbon work, you'd knock 50kg out of it no trouble at all, and she'd run like a cut cat. A busa front end would sort out the dive and the brakes for not much money no doubt.

I think he's keen to move on at some stage this year... unless they're a known lemon, it might be a cool next bike to customise... some sort of drag racer type thingy.

Have you had surgery to release the nerve?

I haven't had it even looked at... to be honest, that's just at a guess... seems to be common in my industry. I really just needed a name for 'wrist pain that hurts when I ride my bum down arse up bikes'.

Thanks for the interest though, the idea 'fix the wrist' instead of 'replace the bike style' is of course the smarter option.

You wanna buy a Lucky Strike RGV?

Yes I would love to, unfortunately my student income probably wouldnt allow me to

I would suggest you go to your doctor about it because the surgery to fix it doesnt take very long and is as simple as cutting a tendon to relieve pressure on the nerve.
There are other non-invasive techniques such as physio, braces, anti-inflams or you can get steroid injections which aren't as severe as surgery

It would be awful for you to have to give the RGV

They were the hot shit learner bike when I was getting my learners; the Lucky Strike ones most of all. I'll probably never give it up, if I have to (I'll be too old to ride it one day I guess) I'll just build an acrylic case and leave it in the house Sort of like the last generation and things like Ford Escort Sports I guess

As I recall, the X4 was Honda's answer to Yamaha's V Max. It handles better, and a bigger tank/better fuel range. Built to go not stop. I have never heard them called a lemon.

haha shit hot 'learner' bike, when I was getting my learners too ...I really don't get why people say learners shouldn't have them, I'm not dead.

Though some learners shouldn't have them for sure (15 year old testosterone filled boys)

Re the carpal.Does your hand suffer pins and needles until it eventually goes numb?If so go to your doctor asap.It doesn't matter what sort of bike you ride, although sports are the worst,it's the vibes that set it off and the waiting list for the op if you are going public is years!!
I became quite adept at riding one handed until getting my wrist sorted.
Never too old to Rock n Roll.

Heh, that was us... RZs, TZRs, RGVs, NSRs... none of us are dead... well, except my mate with the RG400. They're fine, they've got the light weight and good handling/brakes to go with the power, so hardly killers if you've a little between your ears

Naw, it just hurts when I ride my sports bikes Not sure how bad it would get, I just tend to keep the trips short (<150km in a ride).

FJRider, yep, wiki tells me the same story re the VMax. TBH, I rode it before checking it... straight out of the driveway and down the road I was thinking 'hmmm, this is a bit like a VMax', so I guess mission accomplished by the Honda team then. Father in law tells me that they're a 15L tank, and it doesn't go particularly far on it. Would be my first attempt at a carbon tank, so I'd increase the range by making it look a little more muscular
