We (whole family) are looking at heading out to Thunder on Waitangi day, feel free to come along.
Thanks for the invite littlejohn, but will be doing the Maramarua ride on the Sunday (I'm on a XR and my boy on a KX) and wet weather option is Woodhill. Although that suicide drop they're talkin about has got me nervous!

Ok, I was expecting something far worse than the drop at Kimmies to be honest. Is there a run off area?

Might have to give it a go. To be honest Kimmies in the wet would be a nightmare too

yeah man but better i reckon for people who aren't endurocross legends.....quite technical in places. single track and flat out hills+ awesome forest stuff.few deep ruts cos of gncc but i think there are newer tracks being used of recent..
did a twilight ride a couple of weeks ago.....only used some of the tracks avail. due to forestry, but still rocked....

With regard to the Maramarua suicide drop, how would you rate it agaist the drop at the end of the B loop at thunder park just before coming back into the carpark. If it's HEAPS worse is there an alternate to get round My 11 yr old may baulk at it... and I'll just shit myself.

You don't have to do the drop. You can take a different trail to avoid it all together. It was fairly well sign posted that drop is right, alternative left.

Not sure if its a by pass or just takes you a different trail though. Meh, its a big enough place so I wouldn't worry about not doing that trail anyway.

YES!! me and two other mates decided to give the enduro track ago in the pouring down rain, took us about 3 hours had to push adams old XR up every single hill.. what a mission. Then my mates CRF boiled itself so I had to ride back to the carpark, get some water and do the loop again..
I would recommend brand new tires and a bunch of mates for kimmys in the wet, although they are normally closed if it looks like raining.. Its still great fun!
My choice is what I choose to do,
And if I'm causing no harm, it shouldn't bother you.

Kimmys is great if its had a light rain just to keep teh dust down and the track tacky.
