mate a couple of ideas for ya . 1--pay the 100 or so bucks and get a new screen from visual plastics in Hamilton.
2-Try taking the screen to a metal polisher and see if he can polish the scratches out. itll rub the screen thinner but might solve ya problem.
The third option might be to paint the INSIDE of your screen . Now keep in mind ya dont have to paint it black. How would ya bike look with a screen color matched to ya bike

    RC Car paint FTW

Nip down to the local model shop and get a can of "smoke" coloured spray paint. RC car shells are usually polycarb and this stuff is designed for them. Spay it on the inside and you get a great looking tint on RC car windows. Don't see why it wouldn't work on the bike....

Should be plenty to do a screen

That's the stuff, looks fabo from the outside, a bit of caution whilst spraying will make the end result better than new.

Mind you if the scratches are on the outside, as I suspect they are, no amount of colour would disguise them. Have you checked the interweb, new screens can be sourced for not too much $s.
    Oh bugger

Does the grade of tint matter on a bike shield? mines virtually black....anyone know of a bike that failed a WOF cause the shield was too darK?

    Took my own advice :)

Well, in a moment of weakness I took my own advice as I have wanted a tinted screen for a while now. Picked up a can of Tamiya Smoke polycarb paint (there are two varieties, you want the PS series for polycarb) and had a crack at it. Quite happy with the results
