Christchurch: Where do the bikes congregate?

Coming from the UK I miss the Sunday bike congregations. Other Brits may remember the hundreds of bikes that'd drift in and out of Rivington Barn or Devil's Bridge each Sunday. The scene would be repeated throughout the country (usually where good roads coincided with good bacon sandwiches).

So, where do Christchurch bikers end up? A dozen or so at Hororata or Methven hardly seems to cover it. Are you all keeping something from me?

You do realise that NZ has the population of Hampshire spread out over 2 main islands that have a slightly greater land area than the UK right?

You're not ever going to recreate Box Hill here and the Sth Island in particular is hugely underpopulated with less people living there than Auckland, NZ's most populous city. 40 bikes in one place is a big congregation here. 100s of bikes is a rally or a protest ride. 1000s is a really big rally.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

And that is actually what is so brilliant about this country...
It is preferential to refrain from the utilisation of grandiose verbiage in the circumstance that your intellectualisation can be expressed using comparatively simplistic lexicological entities. (...such as the word fuck.)

Cheers for the replies. I appreciate it's a smaller population etc. but I'm convinced the 'petrol head ratio' is much higher (another thing I love about NZ) so just wondered.

OK, look out for a green Guzzi or, if I get the swap for my Road King, a black V-Rod.

    :-)

On a nice fine weekend you'll usually find a collection of varied bikes at/going to/coming from Little River, either stopping there or going to or coming from Akaroa. Good coffee and food there and a nice spot to chat to fellow riders.
