Rider Down - Tamaki Drive (Jan 29)

Unfortunately there's a biker down on Tamaki Drive (just opposite the Parnell Baths). Police and ambulances have been in attendance for the last hour or so.

Appears to be a fatality as the body has been covered by a white sheet. Police have shut down Tamaki Drive in both directions.

Presumably details will follow in the MSM.

    Take care out there.
The greatest pleasure of my recent life has been speed on the road. . . . I lose detail at even moderate speed but gain comprehension. . . . I could write for hours on the lustfulness of moving swiftly.

    Accident on Tamaki drive?

I live by Okahu bay which is just by Tamaki drive and while cruising out towards the city around 7pm there was a big posse of cops blocking off Tamaki Drive, probably due to an accident. So all the city bound traffic had to re-direct through Ngapipi Rd.

So back I come through the Strand around 9.30pm, hoping the cops cleared it up, however I went to the Strand/Tamaki Drive lights it was still blocked.

    Anybody know what actually happened?

Thanks for merging the thread. The accident happened at Solent St which is where Mechanics Bay is (Westpac Helipad is, Mikano Restaurants and one of the entrance to Ports of Auckland).

Fuck, I hope to find out what it happened, poor soul. R.I.P. bro.

Yeah hard to understand given the weather tonight and at 7pm mission bay etc would have been resonably packed. So pretty hard to give it tits.

In saying this i have seen a bike pootling up the median at mission bay doing 30kph ish, and a car got sick of waiting in traffic so swung a u turn...

He was smacked up but okay, probably hear more over the coming days.
