Talking Ever used being a biker to solve something/gain an advantage?

My 11 yo is next week starting Intermediate School. He is a very soft and friendly type who is interested in art and music. He would have no idea how to defend him self if someone took a dislike to him. And sadly that can happen.

This got me thinking what I could do to help him if it ever happend.

And that got me down a memory lane.

Many years ago when my then g/f was told to leave her first office job she was in tears. Not because that the job ended. But because the reference she had been given. It stated that she had been useless, had no idea and did not recommend anyone to employ her in an office again.

I took it up on me to sort this straight away. (Just the kind of guy I am...) I dessed down in to my biker gear (yes, there was a patch involved), mounted my bike and rode noisily to where she had been working until that day. I parked the bike on the path in front of the front door, walked in and asked who Mr .... was, and where his office was. I was told that he was not to be disturnbed, but I had already sussed out what office was his. So I pushed his door open, walked up to his desk and asked if he had written the "reference". He was a chubby guy in a tight grey suit that suddenly wanted to be somewhere far away. But he managed to answer "yes" to my friendly question...

I carefully placed the letter on his desk and informed him that what he had written was probably the truth, but he needed to realise that as a result a young girl who had aspirations to work hard and learn the job, and in the future become responsible for a big organisation and the happiness of it's staff, might never see her dreams fullfilled, as his refrence had forever left her confidence dented....

Well no, I am lying here. I threw the reference on his table and told him I wanted him to write a better one and mail it to me inside 2 days or I be back...

I walked out, kicked the bike in to life and left.

2 days later my then g/f had a glowing reference in our mailbox, and she went on to become a well paid PA in a big organisation years later.

May the bridges I burn light the way.

    Talking Oooppsss...

Got down the wrong memory lane (thats the problem when you get older, you get confused and all the memory lanes look the same...)

What I was gonna tell you was:

When my oldest was 7 and started a new primary school, he got hassled by the kids. It got to a stage where he would fake sickness in the morning so he would not have to go there.

I went to see his teacher and had talks. But nothing changed. So I decided to fix it my self.

I had a old black HD shovelhead and a morning I took her out of the garage, put my gear on, gave my son a helmet and told him to jump on, I was gonna take him to school. I had on purpose left it a fraction late so that his class would already have started.

We arrived to an empty school yard as everyone was in their class rooms. My shovel had straight pipes, so there was not a window that did not have kids pressed up against it. I rode up to his classroom, parked the bike outside the windows and left the motor running. He got off and gave me the helmet. I grabbed it, hung it from the side of the seat, gave him a high five and loudly said: "I pick you up after shool and we go for a ride".

He smiled and said: "Yeah dad".

I picked him up after school, we had a short ride, and when home I asked him how his day had been. He told me that nobody had hassled him and everyone wanted to be his mates.

Never again while at that school did he have any problems with the other kids.

May the bridges I burn light the way.

Bloody beautiful well done! I think, given that I am in the business of hiring people

I did in a group interview tell the panel that I rode bikes...we all had to say something and I thought that they would remember me if I told them. After I was hired and had then secured a manager role, I was told (by the head dude who had been in the panel for my interview) my now direct boss....that he had hired me at the time because he thought I would be happy to work there and would hang around because our building was only two doors down from the bike shop

I guess I must've also done something right in the interview but this made me laugh and is my only example of having 'used my bikerness'

BTW - your 2nd post was great too I can just see it

So what you're saying is we should act like dickhead gorillas to intimidate people into lying simply to further the career of useless girlfriends?

Fuck yeah. That's going to make motorcyclists look like people who should be taken seriously.

Taken seriously was never his intention... getting a result was...

The ex-boss seemed to take it seriously.

I can't really remember - but once when one of my daughters had a problem she wanted solved....she asked if I could get some of my old friends together and go and sort it out for her.I didn't of course....we are just silly old men now - but it's interesting what our children think about us.I kinda feel a bit honored that her first response was that her father could just give someone a stern look and they would say sorry.

So do you think her new boss was impressed longterm with her reference?
