Oil leaking. Is this a big prob?

Man alive!!! I finally did it;this being joined the (semi) real biker club and discarded of the gn250 and got me a mint Yamaha Zeal, still only a 250 cc but the difference in power is amazing and I cant believe how much funner it is to corner not to mention the amazing sound spouting from my behind at all angles...Only thing is it seems to be leaking a bit of oil and being a non vetran I duno if i should be concerned with this? I should be covered under my warrenty if this is a prob but id rather it not be a prob as i dont want ANYTHING TO get between me and my new bird of prey!!!!What do you recon?

Have you been eating baked beans recently???

As for the oil leak, if it is made in Italy then it is completely normal. From anywhere else, it should be referred back to the dealer forthwith.

If you got it from a dealer take it back and ask if they can fix it for you, it should have been in good mechanical order before you got it.

Is it a little bit of oil? You will just need to check the oil level regularly cos running out would be very bad!! I would get it sorted asap.

Congrats on the bike purchase btw!!!

If you want my advice you'll let all the oil drain out, then take the bike for a good thrash. Let the air out of the tyres while you're at it.

    That's a good question.
There's bad haemoraging of vital fluids (terminal leakage), nuisance haemoraging (spotting on the floor of your gargre), and stuff you can ignore (minor weepage from a seal).
And then there's stuff that looks bad but isn't a leak at all (chain spooge accumulating around the countershaft sprocket and looking like it's blown a seal (no, it's just ice cream, honest...))
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

and even if it's a small leakage,
you don't want it anywhere near a tyre or brake system etc

Find out where it's landing, add gasoline and set fire to it.
