Red face More recommendations? Yeah, I know.

    Hi,

Im looking for a bike to do a 3-4 week tour of the south island on when I come back in March next year...

    Will be buyin new.

    Been looking online at..

VFR800... with luggage and my fat arse... Probably not.
Bandit 1250 the touring one with screen and factory luggage etc...
    Sprint ST? Bit pricey...

Don't want to go the FJR or BMW / ST1300 way...

Anyone that lives with these or other suited bikes give me their opinions?

    Appreciated!

VFR 800's tour well, not sure why you are ruling out FJR/ST/Concours.. Price?
Get a ZX14 and put some 20mm bar risers on it, surprisingly comfy, if you do just watch the power/speed, can get you into trouble pretty quick if you're not careful.
    Good luck with the search.

    Thanks,

Yeah.. Would rather stay on the nice side of $20k for a bike that wont get much use. Would consider a demo Sprint ST maybe.

Bought mine with 6600km on the odo with risers, pack rack, Givi V35 hard panniers, Leo Vince SBK pipes and heated grips for $17K.
Don't rule out late model pre-owned, if your not going to use it much, particularly as there are some good deals out there.

You could do worse than buy this. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=199136268

    The auction closes this Thursday.
