    Got the missus a cbr125r

Have been trying to convince the missus to get a bike for ages, even a crusty old dirt bike to learn on, but then she saw a new cbr125r at hampton honda in chch and fell in love. "it looks cool like the big fireblade but is cute too". I figure she can drive a manual car sweet as and ride pushbikes... im sure i can teach her to ride on a brand new cbr... The salesman (joeseph) was super helpful and supportive as she was a bit nervous. It was the last one at $4995, because of our weaking dollar the next ones will be $5995. Its getting petrol and battery, reg and wof monday so we get it tuesday. I get to run it in for her! yuss! I havent ridden one but ive heard and read gleaming reviews. Anyone know if you can get a sports muffler for this model? theyre fairly new to new zealand
lets flip a coin... HEADS i get TAIL, TAILS i get HEAD

    They are cool looking bikes.

Get this he has got his Mrs a new bike that they pick up on Tuesday and hes already asking for a sports muffler for her bike!!!! CLASSIC

Maybe look a crash bungs first.

Try Cycle Works in Wellington, or take a ride past Hanmer into the Lewis to see Harris Pipes. Actually if you ring Harris they will arrange to have a look when they are in town next.

Wife had one in the uk...not sure they make after market mufflers for them, or at least they didn't, but sure micron will do something.

luckily uncle honda put some of those big inidcators on it...so there is no need for crashbungs!! we jsut replaced the indicators when she sold it on...

There is when you're an 18yr old lady who wants to learn to ride roadbikes from scratch, wants a brand new (new zealand new), "cool looking", novice friendly, honda reliable, commuter/fun bike with good resale... She doent need to go fast or deal with a carberated 2stroke and sharp power bands, she needs linear 4 stroke power delivery and something that will start first time, everytime and go all day, everyday

VTR250 is what you are looking for. 125 is just wrong.

When you sit on the CBR125R it feels like your knees are touching
Not to mention the tyres look like push bike tyres!

Looks alright, but man.. I'd get some better rubber on it ASAP!

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

They are a nice bike and I have heard nothing but good things about them. One of my kids has been looking at one for some time but it all comes back to money.
Ride it until the wheels fall off...

Good on you mate. A lot of people are put off by the power of a bigger bike... and for learning and building confidence the smaller you go the better really.
