Greg Power never puts up the prices of entry anywhere on his promo stuff or his web site! But its $40-45.00 each (I think?)
Well thats a bit to much for me as an entry into a family ride when the Mr Moto rides are $25, Sandpit $25, Thunder $20 and Ardmore or Harrisville are $10-00 if you are a member $20 if not. So I don't generally go to his rides to expensive!

I can understand the price issues, especially if a family is involved but I've found Gregs rides to be a great combination of technical & knarly stuff that I "enjoy".

For me it's worth the expense but I have to admit to planning 6 weeks ahead what I will go to and what I will miss, the budget is still a budget.

My pick of this time of year...the Sunset trail ride at Port Waikato, 21st Feb. Stuff for everyone.

Edit: And the Tussock Buster at Waiouro 28 / 29 March.....

Yeah I agree, it is $40, but for a bit of variation, i will splash out as its only me riding but for a family you sure would feel the burn in the pocket.ooouch
on a side note haven't been out to ardmore (not good enough for harrisville)-practise day on a sun the way to go?

some of those entry fees are starting to get out of hand- you have to look at what you're gettting for your money

eg: kimmys you get a mx track and small trail loop, but you also get fairly secure parking, flushing toilets, a waterblaster, parts store

the sandpit, not exactly sure whats there now, but $25 for a shitload of track, which i understand is well maintained

thunder - quite a lot of track for not a lot of money

ardmore - $10 is pretty much gift week! $20 not bad - a well maintained mx track

power adventures- mostly the same as the sandpit, but not maintained trails. the upside is its new land to play on. but why so much?

i guess the land owners have some sort of charge, then theres the insurance etc, but the power ride i went on was not as well done as an epic event - which cost the same amount.

for the guys with familes, i feel sorry for you.

at the end of the day tho, motorsport is expensive. and thats the price we will have to deal with. life isnt getting cheaper

Ha, I have this conversation quite alot

Bikes are by far the cheapest form of motorsport out there, knowing because we have rally and tarmac cars
The events are outrageous, at least $100+ for a rallysprint where you would be lucky to do 50k of driving. but gravel is better than tarmac, a street sprint in ruakaka was that much at least and we did about 3 minutes of driving the whole day, plus you have to wait in between runs one hour + sometimes
The long rallies like the targa and the wrc, like 6-7 thousand or more plus expenses, tires fuel food accommodation, the silver fern in the South Island is 8 thousand and the late entry is 10 thousand. Ill take desert storm over those anyday.

When you compare that to $20 to go to thunder I could ride round the whole day from 9 till 5 (if my body would let me) if I wanted
Or the same price to the sandpit or the MR rides

P.S. is the maramarua twilight ride $40?
we may just go where no ones been

Yeah. 20 bucks but they are the land owners/farmers therefore make money thatway, surely there is something to pay to open the forest etc.
plus everytime you go it is cut up to fuck.
id rather pay 40 bucks for some decent technical riding than 20 for a flat out cut up farm .
lets start a poll to see what people reckon, before this turns into another price whinge fest-yeah it is expensive and thats just part of it-you get what you pay for i reckon....

ps i dont know how to start a poll........

to post a poll go to start a new thread and theres a little box you tick near the bottom of the options

I dont mind paying 40 bucks for a days riding if they are good trails and its a whole day I really think 3 is a bit early to close a ride especialy as its light til 8 at night . sandpit is bloody cheap imo for how many trails there are usually in great cond to plus you can just random off into the bush

rideing is pretty cheap compared to cars but its also about time spent out on the bikes with your kids for many and 120 bucks for dad and two kids just to get in makes it bloody hard to do regularly

Admitedly I have cheated a bit because my oldest kids should ride as adults but greg's family rates are pretty good . i've never paid more than $80 and thats for 5 of us riding. Never really looked at adult only rates though. I know the GNCC is expensive especilayy for 5 of us as no family rate ~$200 However I refused to go to desert storm that would have cost us $430!!!!

You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.
And now a third thing a bloody big gun to shoot theives with!
