On a much more positive note to my last post I've used some technobable stuff to convert the google maps route information into a gpx file that can be loaded onto GPS units. Took a bit of mucking around but the file is attached.
Click on the attachment and save the file to your hard drive but change the extension from .doc to .gpx. You can then load the file onto your gps using Mapsource or similar. Also if you start up Google Earth then click file, open then change the file type box (to the right of the file name box at the bottom of the open window) too GPS (*.gpx *.loc *.mps) you can view the file.
There are four routes each with 200 points, as per the four google maps. These routes should load onto a Zumo (will only hold 200 points per route) and will easily go onto newer eTrex and GPSmap units. 200 points per route is probably a few to many but more is better right?

do you take your DRBIG inside at night time.....
you not allowed to leave the little DRs behind, just because you have a big one

or this one so there's an uncle around as well as the parents - the three DRBIGs could then surround the little DR to keep the wind chill off it!

Hi has anybody any suggestions of where to stay friday night for the out of townwers. Cheers Pete.
Life shouldnt end at the grave well presented but rather, slide in sideways totally worn out yelling "shit that was a great ride!"
Hey guys, all good points. I rode 2/3rds of the route in the rain on saturday and it took me 5 hours with short stops.![]()
Reckon it should be do able by all in max of 10 hours
I have allowed for bailout points or roads to be skipped if we get too far behind time.
It would suit me to start the ride earlier than 10.00am but i was trying to allow enough time for those travelling on the saturday morning to get there on time.
The ideal end would be to arrive in taumarunui between 6-7pm.
What does everyone think, should we move the start time up to 9.00am
Still 1 bed and 1 matress / floor space available at my place for friday night
PS.......... Fast paced means not many latte stops![]()
Here for a good time, not necessarily a long time
9 is sweet with me bro, but i live a little closer than most
