Agreed, Me and Joe took the long way home and only got in at about 9:45 tonight. I think I clocked up 1780 km's for the 4 days.
Fridays trip up involved Matahiwi track and an inpromptu Fishers Track expedition for the Welly guys. I managed to run out of gas about 12km out of Rataehi, having got lost earlier in the day I'd covered more ground that the other guys and didn't quite make it. Big thanks to Nooles for some extra gas. I never got to buy you a beer.
Mark showed us some wicked local roads Saturday, including some beach antics, the exits mostly caught on video.
Sunday was the 42nd Traverse. Andy Mac managed to get a puncture on the way there which was fixed roadside. During the 42nd I got Joe to try out the GS, while I jumped on Aslans DR650 that Joe had. Joe didn't seem too keen to give me my bike back, could it be that he actually liked it?
After the 42nd most people went their separate ways, however JunkManJoe, Andy Mac, BMWRSNUT and another gent whose name I'm not sure of decided to go back to do Fishers again in the rain, they soon twisted my rubber arm to join them and MotoXNUT decided he couldn't be shown up by a heavy old BMW seeing as he was on a little 400 and so he better come too, and not 2 minutes before he had told me he was done and heading home.
Monday Joe and I decided to head down SH43 to Whangamomona, Joe hadn't been there and it had been 10 years or more for me. This then lead onto probably the hardest adv ride I've ever done, Whangamomona road, in the rain, after a day of rain. Slipprier(sp) than a greased slippery thing. I think it took us 3 hours to cover 20km's and my achievement of staying upright all weekend took a tumble or 3, plus Joe got majorly roosted pushing the GS out of a bog, had to be helped out of a bog, and took a couple of minor tumbles.
Photo's & vids are uploading. It will take a while as there are 240 something of them. They will be here.
I'll probably post a few of the tastier ones in here as well later.

Thanks Eddie for the mini report - photo 265/266 is where I went tits up on the old Whanga rd - should have gone straight through the main deep rut instead of trying to go around the hill side. Whanga is an awesome track isn't it.
also please remove photo 35 or you will be hearing from my solicitors
I spy an Underground lurking in those pics
In as much as you can lurk on an @![]()
The Whanga picture doesn't capture how steep that actually was.
On a Southern Coast ride recently I was standing next to MarkS while he was taking pictures.
Mark was heard to say, 'Have you noticed how everyone speeds up when they see a camera out?'
So if you start at pic 33 you can guess what happened.

Few words and some of the photos I got HERE
A big thanks to Mark for organising such a great ride and fantastic road, the weather just made it more fun. Sorry I couldn't get to do the 42nd of Fishers as XR was playing up.
Didn't make it all the way home either, had to leave the bike in a farmer shed near Prionga, a big thanks to John on the BMW F800GS who spent a lot of time trying to get the bike going and then giving me a lift back to Auckland on the BMW. I went back in the car with a trailer to recover the bike, again a big thank you John
Slept the night in a cabin with Henery, Tim (Bugsey) and Graham (String), what a laugh, sorry we missed you guys in Te Kuiti.
