    What helmet cam?

Thinking about getting a helmet cam but not to sure what sort to get.
i have seen a couple different sorts online and want some real world comments.
have any of you had them caught up in bush while trail riding or had them get smashed when you crash.
what about the quality of the camera you use and price.

    cheers Karl

got one of these bulky sound is not that great neither are the fitting attachments if mounted to the bike it will switch off after a few second dew to the vibrations better of with camera that has seperate storage system form the lense. Motocom make a good one heaps of bit and attachments you can play back on its own screen but is $$$ good 500-600

I went for one of these http://www.aiptek.com/Merchant2/merc...&Store_Code=AS

It's just on under the strap of my goggles.

    Pro's - 60Hz 720p HD video, robust, cheap
Con's - Turning on/off is not easy, no remote control, 2 hour battery life

    Sample footage

I've got one. I just don't know what to do with all of the files it creates. Editing software has got me completely flummoxed, so I haven't got any further than accumulating multitudinous gigabytes of raw footage.

And if anybody can recommend an idiot-proof and intuitive piece of editing software that is also (ideally) free or very cheap, I would be thankful.

Where do you race the car Scott? Believe it or not, my girls have never been to a speedway... I used to hang out at Te Marua years ago (anyone remember they only had one song, "work your fingers to the bone"). Loved the ride over from Waikanae...

I have one as well but have experienced none of the problems you mention...although I agree the sound is relatively primitive....I mount the camera on the end of the handle bar. It doesn't switch off....

Difference is you are usin it for road. If you use it off road there is a lot more shakin and it switchs off.

I can't understand it at all, despite trying on several occasions to get it to do stuff.

You are absolutely right...now that I think of it, the only time I went over a really bad gravel road, it DID switch off after a bit. I believe you can wedge the batteries in and the problem goes away....(or so I read somewhere....)
