Felt good doin it and the guy turned and sung at me before I did anything other than yell. Keep in mind this was back in texas where it was definately legal.
I think we could do with a little Texas mentality in this country but I'd draw the line at slugging somebody for singing to you.

The radar units have a sticker on them that shows the next calibration date. They get checked once a year, I think, not too sure.

They don't carry a copy of the calibration documentation in the cars but if you were to defend a ticket then you would get that as part of disclosure.

It has been fixed mate I hate it when I miss keys like that.
Also most of us Texas boys are calm and level headed but somethings do drive us to the edge and beyond if we get mad enough. I would rather not fight but if I catch someone doin something harmfull to my family, friends, and my bike....

Yes, they are calibrated once a year. They will have a sticker with the next calibration date on the unit that you can look at but the actual certificate is held elsewhere which, as Spud says, can be sent to you if you defend the ticket.

Can you pull over more than one bike saying that you Hawked them all speeding?
It's always bugged me that I didn't say 'well which one of us did you get?' when he showed us the readout.
Of course that would have made it me but I would have taken the hit for my mate

they are actually speed checked at auckland airport. there is a ring road that runs parallel to the runway - 4km long, and it is set up with camera pads and calibrated equipment. quite often there is a red ss commodore doing 200k next to the fence, testing the gear. they are calibrated 12 monthly. they are checked for accuracy before each day of duty, with tuning forks calibrated to set speed. (i think 24 and 47k from memory - it's been a long time) the hawks were 80 and 45k, i know that much...

the lasers are checked (before duty) using a length measurement at a calibrated spot.

absolutley. the test is a visual one, which the cop has to say on oath that all were travelling at the same speed - that is, none of them were visibly faster or slower. i have written many tickets to 2 cars - one following the other closely. it's a simple matter of asking the front car how long the guy behind has been following (or up his ARSE) never to bikes though - the only pace it happens regularly enough is paeroa, and gangster rides, and then they have a sacrificial lamb out the back who will stop for you.

So I assume that the 'never bikes' policy is your own?
And if the bike in front simply says that he has just passed the other one or (if he doesn't want the ticket) that the one behind has just caught up then it's no dice on getting them both?
Gotta get my story straight ya see

Good news in latest changes with LTSA

    Special vehicle lanes (bus lanes)

Only cyclists, motorcyclists and buses are
    allowed to use bus lanes.

Finally we can ride in bus lanes. (Got a ticket a few months ago but after writing in to complain they let me off. I guess they knew the new rules were coming in. Whereas I actually thought the new rules WERE in place. Anyway now they are.

    Cheers

I would like this to be confirmed by spud and the other police on here etc....that we can NOW use the Motorway bus lanes to ride our bikes on without getting a ticket. Cos in the past it was $150 fine. I would like some sort of verification that its true. Thanks in advance.
