    Deregister - Reregister

    Ladies and Gents

Can anyone tell me how to deregister a 125cc and reregister it as a 50cc? I will change the badges/tags and so fourth, but how do you get the job done?

    Cheers!

there will be a form at NZ Post or another agent to de-register it. Then you'll need to go through the compliance process, which will end up with it having an MR2A (Govt form)- then you go back into NZ post and regsiter it, and wal;k out with a number plate.

you want to do this- WHY?
It wasn't me, it was like that when I found it. Honest.

well that's what I was thinking- a pussy-arsed scooter rider who is too tight to pay his fair share.

Pay the money, unless you are too retarded to pass a full motorcycle license, OR to cheap to pay your annual license fee, which is made of of mostly ACC fees , and lets face it, scooter riders are the kind of twats who ride around in shorts and t-shirts and make my license fees $300 p/a despite $1000 woth of leathers and every other bit of safety kit possible.

    rant over.

GMan, you're a real friend! Can you tell me more about the compliance process?

I too have leathers for safty reasons, I often wear my Ducati Leathers (you can't buy Vespa leathers) but they're Italian so I feel safe.

    you cant really do it

cos its illegal. called fraud. get pulled over by a cop who uses his eyes and youll be up for tickets, like riding without the correct liscence, and if he sees its rebadged etc and can see that it was dereg and rereg's all whole in your ownership, he will have enough to prosecute you. Just cos he is a cop doesnt mean that he doesnt know anything about motorcycles. They do actually do some training on this.
Also rereg requires revinning, and the guy doing the revinning is the one who activates the VIN number on the system, and notes the frame and engine number etc, so I cant really see you doing it without breaking several laws. and after all the expense, (around $400 to revin a 250 that I fixed up about 5 months ago) youll probably find it more costly than just doing the right thing

I'm doing up a suzuki gt50 late seventies (last registered in the eighties hoping their files don't go back that far) I'll be lucky to register that as a moped. I'm going to try as it is a fifty but more than likely has more than 2kw.

Go ahead and try to register it but I reckon you won't be able to.

How far back do they keep deredged or lapsed rego info?
