    There can be a number of surface hazards when riding, and cats eyes are one of them.

    Dont' lose sight of the fact that the real hazard lane splitting is cars changing lanes, not cats eyes. As long as cars are along side of each other and you can squeeze through, you should be fine. If a car has room to room to change lane, assume it will.
