    Old fuel? 06 CBR600RR

    Opinions please.
Would you run 9 month old fuel in your fuel injected CBR??

My 06' CBR has been sitting in a garage waiting for me for 9 months.(I'm still in the UK)

The fuel tank is full to the top.

My plan was. When I get home take the tank off, Figure out how to empty it(the fuel pump is inside the tank. So I guess tip it upside down???) empty it into a container to be used in the lawnmower.

Put the tank back on, Fill it up with new fuel and away we go

BUT!!! being a westy I'm now leaning to the "she'll be right mate" get home start it and ride away mentality

    What do you lot reckon?

I'd stir the fuel and suck some out to see if its clean, let it settle to see if theres any moisture in it.
If it looks dodgy you can buy a cheap squeeze pump syphon from supercheap, that'd get most of it out, then top up with fresh 98.

Nah a true westie would chew up the gas as fast as possible by conventional means - a couple of burnouts, a good hours fang, and a load of wheelies should empty the tank.

Then when pretty much empty, dump a bit of fuel set in there, and leave overnight to break all the gunk down. next day fill up with 98 and go hard.

Well, actually, I wouldn't even bother putting it in the lawn mower if in doubt.

Just poor it on the lawn and flick a ciggie into it.

Chuck a bit of meths in it if you're in doubt (it'll push any water through the system) fire her up and go for a ride.

If it coughs and splutters a bit just keep trucking. if it's real bad (very unlikely) then drain the tank as much as easily possible, top it up with fresh stuff - slosh it around to mix and away you go.

FFS don't lose sleep over it.

If you use 95 or higher octane fuel it should be ok, but 91 turns to water so you must dump it and check the tank & fuel tap for rust.

    You're a baaad baaad man.

As long as the tank's been kept closed then 'm sure it will be fine. If it's not completely full then just top it up with a bit of 98 just to play it safe.

I can't see any harm in it though.

Dump that crap down the gutter late at night when no one is watching, then put some good stuff in there.

Well I sucked it out with a hose, got high as fuck trying to get it all out then pushed it down to the gas station filled it up while hallucinating and proceeded to fang to piha.

But it wouldn't start until I opened the throttle wide open a few times which I thought was strange It has been fine since

I had to put new tyres on so of course I did huge burnout!

To syphon fuel out you actually blow down the hose to get a positive pressure in the tank (while sealing with hand), then as you stop blowing fuel will come back up the hose and you lower this onto your lawn... sorry, catch it in a container.

    Too late now though.....
Good to hear the CBR is going again.
