Blah Thank god for the new tunnel

Its sure taken the edge of holiday weekends for those in cars.........

    February 5, 2009, 6:48 pm
It is going to be a long drive for motorists heading north of Auckland.

Traffic is very heavy on State Highway One through Warkworth with a 15 kilometre long queue.

Motorists can expect delays of up to an hour.

The Transport Agency says holiday traffic is building up fast, and is advising motorists to take the alternative route on State Highway 16

gives kbers the fun of lane filtering aye , and getting smart at the cars.I cant imagine how long it would be to wait in that traffic, and i feel sorry for the people who worked night and day on it spending millions on a tunnel that just adds to the problem

We will soon hear of the amount of motorists who do not/did not pay the toll and how the authorities are having to chase them to get payment...

We just got back from Albany, stoped at the BP to get ciggys and the que for the pay machines was long as. They would have been better off going through Orewa. And yes the traffic south of Warkworth was bad, but it always is on any long weekend, no real change there to be honest. I wouldn't say the tunnels have failed where thats concerned. Theres always SH16 but do they use it? NO!

Traffic here on long weekends can take four hours to get through starting from about 4pm. Its normal.

I would like to thank all of the human beings involved and all of their engineering skills/equipment, rather than an imaginary friend.

Every media shot we get is of Aucklanders enjoying jamming themselves on the roads. It's like an addiction up there.

Would be fun splitting at immense speed.
