Not far from it....is what I do on holiday. This last one in March included a good Canty day ride, Wed night social ride, Prorider track day....brilliant fun and learnt a bit....the TT2000 with most of the flyers and the Rusty Nuts 10 000km super tour with the commutes between. Just over 15000km in the 3 weeks....

Now I need to wait until September for my next holidays and by gum the bike shop better have the heated grips fitted by then or the will be hell to pay.

And are you going to wuss out in the winter or just add more layers?

edit: just done the maths, are you commuting to or from Palmerston North - Respect man! I'm toast after levin - welly - levin every day! The extra would be tough!

Yep Kelson Lower Hutt over the Haywards through Grays road to Ohakea every morning, usually leave home about 3.30 for a 5.00am start, or 5.00am for a 7.00am start.
Most nights I leave around 1530 - 1600...... but just idle home
Nah roll on winter, nothing like a bit of rain wind and cold to toughen yah up.
Will keep an eye out for you

    Damn, 3:30 is just silly!
Winter is fun, make sure you have good wet gear. I've been soaked through on the way home at Porirua - its a bloody long way with wet 'nads.

Will you be celebrating your long distance training in October with a Rusty Nuts GC? It will be a breeze for you with th night ride practice, but I would add a few Piecock and Akatarawa diversions in just to make sure ;-)

The Grand Challenge is the annual ride where you are pretty much guaranteed to whack 2500km's on your steed in a weekend. At least 1600 (1000 miles) would be done in 24hours. The route is delivered the night before the ride and always contains some "Interesting" roads!

    How many KMs per year?

I searched and couldn't find a thread on this topic, so out of general interest I thought I'd kick it off!

How many Kilometers do you spend in the saddle over the year?

I ask this because on my daily commute I don't see as many bikes as I'd like to see, but I get the feeling that the cages that pull over to offer me a gap whilst I lane split are often bikers on their way to work!

Personally I'm doing 20,000 + Km per year as the bike is my primary mode of transport, however most bikers that I know keep the bike for fair weather / summer riding only.

So are you a fair weather weekend warrior or a rain or shiner?
Do you have a reason for not biking more often?

    not enough
Used to be my only transport when I was younger. Old now, got a company car.......so I only get to use it weekends and for a couple of long trip a year. Lucky to put 5000kms on a year now.

This last 12 months? not alot to be honest.
There was a period of several months were very little riding was done, due to my wife having her leg in plaster.
9600 or there abouts, since September last year.
    I must increase...

Dont worry too much about it dude, the search function on KB is an unwieldy beast and if it does bring up anything of use it is either not very relevant to your keywords or is many years old, case in point the above thread was started 3 years ago.
It wasn't me officer, I swear!
