    Forgotten great roads.

Well the Welly guys go on about the Tukas. Me I love Old north and the miranda road .Firefight waxes lirical about his ol SH22
Guess what--we all miss out on a couple of the best biking roads I think Ive encountered in ages.
Guys -If ya get the chance try the Napier to gisborn road> Its like 200km of twisties. Thatll warmya tyres up nicely. Just before Gisborn turn left on SH2 and head down the gorge. -now thats 55km of roads like the tukas.
-Ohh but without the grease n oil.
Youll end up in Tauranga after a few hours of real good riding.down the waterfront theres some darn good eateries. Do a uey and head back again.
To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?

Miranda road is s&*t!!! I used to go through there every week in the cage (when i say used to i mean up until about a month ago) and there was not many occasions where there were no road works The road that carries on up to otara and maraitia might be ok, but that bit that takes you back out the highway by the castle always had bloody roadworks!

It's not so much that we rave on about it - it's all we've bloody got! It's only one small hill crossing and full of trucks. But it does have some great spots.
The Napier-Taupo and Napier -Gisborne roads sure are a blast.
Want the best roads. Try anything in the South island, except SH1 south from Chch

Thank you MD, for politely saying what I wanted to say without the expletives or comments about parentage and current employment.

There sure are some great roads around this fantastic country of ours.

Over the Christmas break I was luckly enough to ride some of them. The standouts were:
    SH4 from Wanganui to Ohakune
The Gorge from Opotiki to Gisborne
    Gisborne to Napier

If I could make a suggestion (I'm going to anyway)...strap ya pack on the pack rack and go exploring!

Doesn't look like that much appeal, but I do wonder with a start from Napier what their route is going to be.
Some dude at Paeroa was planting leaflets on every bike in sight.
Anyone going or done it before? Do they run it like a rally check point thing?

There is The Forgotten Highway (SH43) of course, but the less said about it the better, too many people are discovering it's there.

If I named the great roads around here, that would leave the forgotten ones, which of course you would not know
