It finally happened!

Riding down the River Road last week , with a mate, coming back from an afternoon blat.

Pulled up behind a car and was awaiting the passing lane just ahead.

Then BANG........

Got hit by a 4 foot square piece of Corrugated Iron, flicked up by the rear wheels of the car.

Kept upright, but thought I had lost a leg.........., pulled over, fell off.

Found leg still attached.

So the damage, headlight cover .....gone, left indicator gone, headlight gone, fairing scratched to bits, clutch lever gone( left an imprint in my glove.

underpants .......... stained

Pride ......... hurt.

But all fixable. does bring the adage to mind ALL THE GEAR ALL OF THE TIME.

If your bike hadn't minimised the impact (which clearly it did, based on your damage assessment), I doubt that any gear (other than driving in a car) would have saved your leg. Never make the mistake of endeavouring to ascribe dumb luck to the efficacy of motorcycle apparel.

I know what your saying, but its better to base it on good gear when one is telly ones very pregnant wife about the klittle mishap

I am glad to here that you still have all limbs attached, and all are functioning correctly. And did you really stain your underpants? I really didn't think it would happen.

Bloody good to be in one piece. I've had a few things thrown up at me by tyres etc but something with an edge (other than U2) could seriously do some harm.

All those too close, whatever your wearing and bike took it people should just think what would happen if it was them and maybe how it could have been at neck height!
