Yeah, I went for a ride with someone who had the '08 Ninja, and when we stopped his was doing the same thing, as they all do.
Like others have said, when you ride the fuel level drops, creating a vacuum in the tank, which equalizes, then when you stop, some of the heat from the engine transfers into the fuel in the tank, which causes some to evaporate and expand, which causes pressure inside the tank, and the noise is the excess pressure venting slowly, to equalize again.
Like when you take a drink from a disposable coffee cup that has a plastic lid with too small a hole, and it squeals every time you take a sip.
If it really bugs you, you could just open and close the fuel lid, which will temporarily stop it doing that, because the pressure will instantly equalize.
It's not a big deal though.

Hell, if we meet up on a ride one day and I turn the Buell off, you'll freak out at the sound coming from the cooling fan. It's LOUD! (but necessary).

Standing joke: "Look out, she's going to blow!"

    All part of the charm.

Thanks for all the info guys. Atleast now i can provide an explanation as to why my bike is meowing at passers by. (as u can imagine, wen i got that dreaded question, the best i could do was 'i ran over a cat' joke...not particularly funny either). LOL, it would be interesting to meet up and have a chorus of bikes chittering to each other!
