Fun of the motorcylist
Today about 500m from where I was rear-ended by another car whilst in my car last year (damage: $3000) I was rear-ended on the bike. Just off Lilcoln Rd in West Auckland, where I note there is a high level of reported stupid incidents of this type in the forums.
I pulled up in the huge green bike area at a red light with no traffic around at all. After a minute waiting *thump* I was rocked forward a bit. A single car had come up behind, into the bike zone, and into me in one perfectly executed movement, bending my numberplate in half against the wheel.
Luckily no other damage seems to have been inflicted, but I'll have a thorough look at the suspension later. Seemed OK on rest of the way to work.
Her excuse? "I have many worries at the moment and was thinking". Very nice.
Just another story from the trenches that is not about excessive speed, hi-viz vests or any of the other official "drive safe" crap but just poor training and selfish thinking behind the wheel - as always.
