Not in ChCh but if you haven't already found it look at ADVrider.com, Orange Crush forum and the OC hall of wisdom sites.
There are a huge variety of adventures out there with suspension heights varying between models and different "character" defects dependant on the model.

Good luck, enjoy the hunt and hopefully we will see you on a katiemmmmmmmm.

There are a heap of 950-990 in Christchurch but as said above it depends what year your looking at as to height, otherwise they are pretty much the same looks wise.
Theres a 990 sitting in Superiors show room if you want to have a look at one.
How tall are you, if you are anything under 6ft the earlier ones will be abit of a stretch as they are tall, if your looking for a lower one the one in Dunedin has a 17inch rear so its lower than normal.

thanks guys, I have been over Advrider every day for the last year

I am considering the one in Dunedin........ I am a short arse at 5'7, I had a KTM 640e with no problem.

I am trying to avoid a trip to dunners, maybe a trip down with the family to the choc factory is required.

has it been changed to 17 inch rear to open up tyre options? Any thoughts on the price? has a few nice farkles on it...

It had a 17 because the owner was short, after 05 the the standard bike is alot lower, I'm 6-1 and can almost but not quite flat foot my 04 and tip toes on my mates 04 S, the one in Dunedin is meant to be a good one and yes it does have some good bits on it.
I think its probably at the higher end for a 950, if it was me at that price I'd find a second hand 990, if they sharpen the price then it would be a good bike.

I've been in the happy situation of having a 990 and a 950 in the garage for the last two and half months.

Frankly, what with the...ahem....abrupt throttle response on the 990, and difference in the low end power - if you have a choice between a well farkled 950 and a cheaper 990, take the 950.

Out of the box the 990 does seem to be harder to roll on but most of the guys I ride with have had them remapped or added controllers and this seems to help that issue.
As much as I like my 950 I will more than likely replace it with a 990s just for all the little things that are better sorted in the newer bikes.
A well sorted 950 is still a good bike but if you can get a secondhand 990 for 3-4k more I would be inclined to purchase the 990, if we are talking 10k difference then I'd go with a 950.
