Aprilia dealers in Welly/Palmy area... any?

    Aprilia dealships... where?

    I've sold the 2000 Honda VTR1000
Awesome all-rounder bike but loads the wrists up too much esply when riding 2 up. I've heard the 2001+ models have bigger tanks and higher bars but time for something new.

I've got my eye on Aprilia, either..

    a) Tunono
    b) Falco SL1000

The Tunono is basically a naked Mille RSV with x-cross bars.
The Falco a totally diff bike running the same engine

Anyone own ether bike? Thoughts? Both seem well reviewed but both seem to full the same market gap. I can't find a dealship anywhere!

I'm pretty sure Stu at TSS Motorcycles (http://tssredbaron.com/), Cuba St, Lower Hutt is still an Aprilia dealer, and the Tuono is an awesome bike. Rode it back to back last year with a RSV. Both very good rides, and I came from a VTR1000 too. I've not personally tried the Falco, so can't comment.

TSS in Alicetown Lower Hutt are dealers.
Ive got a Falco & Clivoris has a Touno. Flick me a PM with your questions on the Falco. If you PM Clive he is a good bugger and he will surely answer any questions on that model.
www.apriliaforum.com is a good place for info too.
May the road rise up to meet you.

TSS In Lower Hutt and Scooterazzi in Wellington.

The Falco was discontinued about 5 years ago.

Fatjim has just bought a new Tuono.

If you're after second hand Tuonos and Falcos then KTL Motorcycles in Auckland is your best bet.

Yip id agree with J2 - try Kerry at KTL bikes - picked up my ape from them and they were more than helpful.

Got me a Tuono as I have a dud back and couldn't walk for days after being folded up on a sprotsbike for a longish ride.

It is an awesome bike. The reviews are all good, but you have to ride one to fully appreciate it. Mine is the higher spec version with Ohlins front and back, Oz wheels and carbon everything, but even the standard one is great.

Wheelies off the throttle in first and second, steering gets light when nailing it in third. Really flickable and confidence-inspiring in corners. Bit of a hooligan machine though, they are hard to ride sensibly.

Never ridden a Falco, but would recommend a Tuono to anyone.

Thanks guys, heaps of usefull advise via the thread and several PM's. Didn't realise there were so many ape riders. To sum up eveyones opinions.

    1) Tuono: Awesome bike, comfy and confident
    2) Falco: Awesome bike, slight cheaper shocks than Tuono but still excellent.

For those with a Tuono how do you find the wind at 100-120km/h I realise they're semi-naked.

Will have to test ride both when I have the mulah saved up.

You'll find a naked or semi-faired bike to be more comfortable and less noisy at 100-120km/hr than a lot of faired bikes.

James Deuce is absolutely right. My helmet noise has diminished appreciably since riding a naked Shiver, compared with a screened FJR. I now no longer get rain dribbles on the inside of my visor as well (with the visor in the closed position, of course). The Shoei now gets to do what it was designed to do, rather than being compromised by screen aerodynamics.

talk to Mark at Scotterazzi Wellington, I'm pretty sure they can get in anything Aprillia you want, although last time I looked there was only the very awesome little Sport City 250

Yep wind is fine up to about 160 normally, and I'm a parachute.
