    Novice MX questions

hae i decided i want to get into motorcross and i have a few questions.....
i looked at the "pukemx' website it tells you about racing at harrisville....do you have to be a 'good" or expirienced rider to race there or is it just casual racing? ive been to the sandpit mx track and i found it pretty easy and prefered it to trail rides, also do you get a practice before you race?

I dont realy want to turn up there and find its full of hard out mx racers and be a hazard....

    thanks -max

good starter, for you is to come out to Ardmore on a Wedsday afternoon have a go on the MX track, you got the right bike. see how you go from there.
Why would you ride that long and that gnarly stuff if you don't have to, Its what we do, we love it.

Why not head out there for a practice day, Saturday afternoons 1 till 3 pm and have a go. You could also try Ardmore on a wednesday afternoon as mentioned.

If you do want to try racing there will always be a class suited for your riding ability.

Harrisville is most definatly NOT a place for a novice MX rider to rock up too expecting to race.
Get some practice/racing at Ardmore and get to a practice day at harrisville.

Harrisville is safe for all abilities, we always split the main track into groups for practice keeping the fast guys seperate, racedays are split even further into groups,

i would reccomend practice on both Harrisville and ardmore before trying to race, there are also places like Ken Fells, i see cyclespot are running a natural terrain mx series, and there will also be on down south as well (details out soon)

harrisville is only as hard out as you make it - granted i havnt been there in years,

for example though, a double is only a double if you want it to be, its not like they put sharks in between the ramps!

I made the mistake of riding at harrisville on a bike with screwed suspension and I had only been riding for a few months. End result was I was scared of double jumps and the track for a while afterwards. Don't ride harrisville untill you're reasonably experienced. Ardmore is designed for 85's and is easy for beginners but you can still have fun if you're fast so that's a good track for you. I might be going out there some time soon. I'm experienced but I've been off the bike for a year because of a recurring knee injury so maybe we can go for a few laps racing lol

I recon Ardmore is better for you to lean, Harrisville is a full on MX track that can catch the unaware, and bites hard if you get it wrong. when you get a bit of confidence then give it a go.
