Mirrors at the same height as your bike's ones are frustrating. I've busted two mirrors while lane-splitting from that. Can't say I've ever had anyone helpfully fold their mirrors in for me (although I've folded a few back the wrong way... )

My favourite moment was splitting to the left of stationary cars ( I was going to turn left, and there was less room on the right, so it made sense). I came up to this parked Volvo with a woman siting in the driver's seat.
She saw me, got all agitated, and went to wind down the window, obviously electric, so she couldn't with the car switched off.
So she banged on the window instead and yelled at me. Dunno what she said, or why she was so cross, but oh how I laughed, at her rage and impotence.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Seems weird until you go to back a truck down a narrow alleyway and then it just seems like a very sensible feature!

That's it! That's exactly the one! *squeals again*
Now you can see why I was so surprised (and startled) when it started folding away from me.

And you can tell by the hips. Especially if you see the biker lean the bike.

guys tend to lean with their shoulders. girls lean with their hips. [/QUOTE]

I've never thought about that before- but I know exactly what you mean.

Truckers are really professional in my experience and so much more courteous than the average driver. I wonder how they keep their cool when so many car drivers pull out in front of them without enough time to get up to 100k- some pull out and then go only 85k tops- it would drive me nuts after a while!

Great post, klingon, keep 'em coming!

    In answer to your question
it is the thought that some day an idiot will pull in front of you, and that no matter what, you will use your truck to punch in the back of their car.
And you will be at no fault at all.

*looks wistfully at her truck brakes and wonders how to fit an activated fail point* oh the day.

    biker/trucker the best combo ever.

jsut remember a truck can not lane split (yes there is a storry behind that, for any one interested.)

I have done that. I stopped and looked at the gap ahead and folded one of my mirrors in, then I rode through to the front of the intersection.
