Southern coast adv ride ( 14-15 feb) Report day 1

    Hi all.
    a report for day 1 .

all gathered at winui BP for briefing.
headed off round the coast road. stopped to regroup about half way round, i noticed oil under barts bike, sadly bart had to pull out, as we couldnt fix his bike. i was looking forward to riding with bart again. marks bike also had a problem and decided not to carry on also. so rest off us carried on to station house.
paid the access fees, and headed off round the coast track, all going good till we came to the first and largest rock slide. umm NO road, its washed away, so approx 50m of large rock to find a way across.
a few spills and thrills getting everybody across. all good.
carried along the track and, ALL STOP ! the roads been washed away, in front off us was a 2m wide by 1.5m deep gap in the road. ummmmm now what.
just like the cave men, sticks and stones in hand we made a bridge, was a good one as well. no worries, couple thrills and a KLR nearly upside down, every body across safely.
a couple off spills on the sandy section, gate key wouldnt work on one off the gates, so we droped the fence and but it back up after all went through. Rest of coast went off with out any probs, found a nice hilly bit, so we had to have a play, KTM in full flight. very cool.

After a late lunch around 3pm, in martinbrough.
oh them waitress there nasty, yummy......
we all saddled up for a treck in to southerlands hut,
a little damp a few muddy puddles, all good going in no spills, found the hut and a few of us went exploring a few side tracks, and who should turn up, Mark on a new bike.
    cool....

all saddled up headed back out, a couple spills no drama.
back in martinbrough, gas station, there was a few lovely ladies walking towards us, turns out one was on her hens night, ask us to sign her dress, and was quite fun chating to her, we asked here to jump on one off the bikes for a kodac moment, nice... took back sealed roads back to carterton, well thats about day one off our trip.
very cool ride, great bunch off guys.
stayed tuned for day two report.

Bastards. How dare you guys have that much fun without me.

Cheers to everyone who helped me out today. I finally got home at 7.30pm, thanks to my lovely wife, (she's reading over my shoulder), for driving the 6 hour round trip to get me. We had adventures of our own coming back over the Rimutakas, with my 16 month old son pukeing in the back of our new Territory, with no where to stop.

Considering I hit the road at 6.30am, it's been a very long day.
Showing off for the camera since ages ago

    Yep what an awesome day.

We are all relaxing in Carterton with a few beers after a big feed looking forward to day 2.

Wait till Balrog puts his pics up of the carnage, a beach of battered bikes

After the various bail outs and people on 1 day schedules there are a dozen of us left.

To Howie and JunkManJoe, awesome pics, we are impressed you managed to get those done so soon after leaving us.

Kslider thanks for your help with the bridge we made and the awesome trials skills.

    coast ride day 2

    Hi all.

I rejoined the group at gladstone, then we all headed out to homewood coast road.
A nice cruse round foresty roads, and headed for the riversdale store for coffie and pitstop.
i tryed to get us over castlepoint station, but access was denied......bugger.....
all rested we sadled up and headed for tinui and castle hill road. neat winding road, riders short off gas, headed to ekathuna for jucie, others headed for pori road for a loop ride, to catch up with others at cafe for lunch at pahiatua.
all rested up, time to head for the dreaded makairo track.
the road up to track, the gravel was so deep, nasty.

all regrouped at start, and off we went in to the unknowen for some.
my self had a bit off a woops, heading down the bank backwards, a few others had a few dramers, thrills and spills, we not sure how he did it, but one chap even left his bike on the track and he ended up in top off a tree over the bank......... what the.......
we came across a nasty trench in middle off track, a ktm was very stuck, but no worries, along comes eddie with his bmw bulldozer and made the trench wider for us, cheers mate.
all down the bottom of track safely, a few slips and slides, was a great trail, and will return there some day.
a few of the chaps did a return treck through the makairo track, others headed for gas and home.

thats about the end off our 2 day trip, was well worth the ride, and hope to ride with all rides again.

Looks like a great ride. We should organize a few Nelson riders to come up & sample your tracks soon. Thats a cool looking brown airhead there. Whose is it?

Good to see the distinguished Aslan out & about. Was Hammy aka Fred there?
