    Question Insurance for the underaged?

Hi, i was just wondering for someone like me..who is under 21 and wants to upgrade from something like a 250 to a 600..how much premiums for insurance would be? and would it be hard for me to get insured since im under 21, cos im with state atm and their website says that they dont insure people under 21 with any bikes bigger than 400cc. thanks ^^..oh, and ive used the search function thing quite a few times aye..didnt find much about it ><..orelse im too techno retarded..lol

    www.kiwibike.co.nz

My insurance with Lumley was $1100 a year when i was 19 and riding a 1999 Yamaha R6 valued at $8k. That was with clean licence and freshly upgraded to my full.

With kiwibike (underwritten by star) I was paying $1400 for a GSXR1000K3 valued at $10k, at age 21, after having lost my licence twice, once from excessive speed, the other from demerits.

I suggest you ring kiwibike insurance and speak to Dave, he'll be honest and reasonable with you - he's a genuine biker himself.

Give kiwibike motorcycle insurance brokers a call.
They will be able to give you a fair idea since they search for the best deals etc.
I think they quoted me a decent amount, bit more than my 250, but its what i expected. Give em a call and find out

Ring Robyn at the Honda Riders Club. She'll be able to sort you out with a mighty fine deal. I was paying $380 a year for a 04 VTR250 valued at 6.5k and i was 21 and on a learners. My excess was only $550 ($250 standard excess plus $300 for under 25). Plus you'll end up with a member ship to HRC which includes roadside rescue and deals for the track days they do.

You have to go through a broker to get motorcycle insurance through vero. The HRC insurance i posted about above is actually under-written by vero.

I was told by someone else that they don't do bike insurance as that was what they were told when they rang vero. I guess your first hand experience beats my word of mouth information.
