Kharma and the Gods of Motorcycling

Sitting at the lights this morning - at the intersection of Beach Road/Parnell Road, and Stanley Street.

As normal, I had filtered up front, and had a grandstand view...

So, a white car (BBB876) races through the right turning light (from Stanley, right onto Parnell Road) when the light had been red a while - the traffic going straight through had already started, notibly a guy on a scooter.

The scooter saw the danger, and braked, almost getting rear ended - but the white car ended up swerving too tight, hitting the median traffic island, driving over the top of it, then booting it up the road...

So, after the lights had changed, and I had a green, I rode up the road, and down a side street to see if I could see the prick... He was parked around the corner, and sadly for him most of the contents of his radiator were on the ground under his POS (along with a very bent front end...). I had a little chat with him, pointing out that the Gods of Motorcycling delivered some kharma to him...

I don't think he was all that happy.

At this stage I would log on to www.police.govt.nz and fill in a dangerous driver report. You have a registration number, description of the car, scene and the time of day. That's all you need.

He'll get a nice, polite letter from the police informing him that he's driving like a dick and the record is attached to the vehicle as far as I understand matters. Which means, if he ever kills somebody because he drives like a dick, his previous record is available.

I might be a big sooky la-la, but I report all these asshats. Eventually they will get the message and stop or be forced to stop driving as if they are (a) the only motorist on the road and (b) every other vehicle is a target.

The last three weeks I've reported a chap inj a black Mitzi for attempting to pass in the same lane on the left in a residential zone; I've reported a golden SUV for overtaking in rush hour by swinging into oncoming traffic around concrete pedestrian islands.

They take needless risks which endangers all of us in their vicinity.

To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded
