A soldier's viewpoint on surviving nuclear, chemical and biological attacks

Excellent - here is a rational, sensible and scientific piece about the real-world risks - which are low, even with H-bombs.

    http://www.sightm1911.com/lib/other/nbc.htm

"Chemical weapons are categorized as nerve, blood, blister, and Incapacitating agents. Contrary to the hype of reporters and politicians they are not weapons of mass destruction they are "area denial," and terror weapons that don't destroy anything. When you leave the area you almost always leave the risk....

Nuclear bombs: These will be low yield devices and will not level whole cities. If you live through the heat, blast, and initial burst of radiation, you'll probably live for a very, very long time....

Finally there's biological warfare. If biological warfare is so easy as the TV makes it sound, why has Saddam Hussein spent twenty years, millions, and millions of dollars trying to get it right? If you're clean of person and home you eat well and are active you're gonna live...."

Sorry, the point or relevance of your post to a bunch of bikers in NZ was?

Fair enough, no direct relevance but we discuss all sorts of things in Rant and Rave including the Middle East, Tony Veitch, child abuse/murder, politics......

Its a good read - you'll never come across this stuff in the regular media because its not sensational.

Yea, great read, fun stuff! FYI:

"In Australia, Canada and New Zealand, veterans obtained compensation in settlements that same year. In 1999, South Korean veterans filed a lawsuit in the Korean courts. In January 2006, the Korean Appeal Court ordered Monsanto and Dow to pay US$62 million in compensation. However, no Vietnamese have received compensation, and on March 10, 2005, Judge Jack B. Weinstein of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York dismissed the lawsuit filed by the Vietnamese victims of Agent Orange against the chemical companies which produced the defoliants and herbicides. The case was appealed and heard by the Second Circuit Court of Appeals on June 18, 2007. The Court of Appeals upheld the dismissal of the case stating that the herbicides used during the war were not intended to be used to poison humans and therefore did not violate international law.[5] The lawyers for the Vietnamese have petitioned the US Supreme Court to consider the case."

Just one of many war crimes...

Life is tough. It's tougher when you're stupid

"Vietnam veterans and their families who brought the original Agent Orange lawsuit 25 years ago alleged that the government "is just waiting for us all to die". They alleged that most of those still alive would succumb to the effects of toxic exposure before the age of 65."
