best advice i can give is work out how far away from target you are with selling yours for reasonable price. If it not to unrealistic sell it and start savin it will be the best motvation youll get not havin a bike just dont do what some do and go arh fuck it and buy 1st that comes along hold out and get what you really want, I did it came up with 5g real quick with no bike to ride.

Cheers grasshopper, that'll be worth a looksie. I'll head down to motorrad tomorrow (it's at a bike shop).

I had a good look at the 07 250exc in palmy and a wee hoon up and down the road on it and was impressed by the power delivery... was nice but definately doesn't have mega boogy up top of the revs it really runs out of puff. The torque is nice from low tho and i recon it'd be just what i want in terms of power, suspension seemed a bit slow and gay but i only rode it on the road. I'd definately go for the 08 one on trade me at an extra 1000 with all the suspension work and all the factory new shit that the 08s come with. The 07 is supposedly a bit of a dog for suspension and they changed it big time along with the frame for 08.

The reason they gave for the con rod being changed was simply cos it's the easy way to do the big end bearing... said the con rod was only 60-70 bucks so people normally just do it as part of the service. Guy with the 08 has done the same so that kinda confirms it for me.

The owner of the 08 (the mean ass black one that i love) is gonna be at the Akitio enduro (expert class) so he said he'll gimme a hoon on it after the enduro and hopefully by then i'll know if i'm gonna be made redundant and will be able to borrow some cash.

He was a cool dude to talk to actually. He's done the ISDE in greece and romaniacs and all sorts so some folk on here will probably know who he is.

I'm gonna do some work on my bike and will do Akitio on it. not gonna ride before then i think 'cos money's tight and i've lots of bike work to do.

Cheers for the tip Barty. if after the 3rd round of the enduro (3rd round is on the weekend after the 2nd round-Akitio) 08 guy hasn't sold and i haven't lost my job (won't be doing any enduro if that happens) i'm gonna list mine for cheap and go hard on the saving... or maybe go hard on the borrowing. lol

Yeah dammed, it's gonna be pretty lucky if all my plan comes together so i may be turning to you (and begging harder at the bank) after round 3. Will keep ya's in the loooop

yeah that sounds interesting. people were saying earlier in this thread that you could 300 a 250 pretty simply too, just a matter of money. I don't think i'd bother. Would be happy just to kick ass through the tight stuff on my 250

Don't know enough about the engines but the Chassis are the same for the 250 an 300 so I don't see the advantage in turning a 250 into a 280 you might as well buy the 300 straight off. If the gearboxes etc are the same with different barrels again you might as well, just get the 300exc. Others may like to comment who know better but that's my take on it.
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

Never heard of a 280 kit for a 250EXC, seems like a waste of good money. There is a 280 kit for the 250EXCF and also for most of the 250 two stroke MX bikes for added torque but when KTM already has a 300 available I can't see the point of doing it to a 250EXC.

Twice the displacement, twice the cost and a decibel problem, I'll pass on the inside brraaaap!!!

Yeah he said it gave it more grunt down low than the standard 250 exc-F but was still nice light and easy to throw around.
