Great shots, cave weta. Glad you shared them. My dial up speed doubled today so I could see the "big" ones like everyone else-thanks!

I really like guy doing some 'suffering for the art' by lying in the creek on that first one, cave weta. I also love that second (puddle) one. Saved - hope that's OK.

Don't want to cause any offence with my unauthorised photo-titu, the photos are very cool so thought I'd give Photoshop a wee plug for the keen photographers. Very powerful program as you can work an image in so many ways. I use it a lot for work but I'm no pro user. Just did a couple of quick tweaks on this one - levels & contrast mainly. The 'fern removal' was also a bit quick and dirty but shows what you can do. BTW: Found this pic also looked good with a portrait crop to emphasise the steep waterfall. Keep 'em coming.

My dialup speed has bumped up as well, Okey Dokey. Telecom rang me last week - survey on satisfaction. Bleated about my crap 28.8 dialup speed. Suddenly now a blistering 31.2 bps. Wonder what they did?

Not if you don't pay for it ...
(alternatively, find a GD student and get them to buy it for you. Student prices are way cheap! Wish I'd bought CS when i was studying, but didn't have any $$$ - cruel joke!)

$ Ouch. Got an older version and didn't realise it had gotten so dear. Think Adobe have a cheaper 'Elements' version with most of the good stuff in it? I've had a play with some of the software that comes with cameras and found it weak, but then I'm hooked on Photoshop, I just love it. Have heard there is something else around that is not far off Photoshop but much cheaper? Once you start mucking 'round with images it's very addictive.

Edit. True spiked punch, much cheaper as Ed version (pretty sure same program - different packaging). Tax deductable for me, and you as well caveweta. Business promotion/advertising. TradeMe could be worth a look as well.

Not idea about this, but there is a freeware program called GIMP, which is pretty good (free, can't really complain) I find it a bit clunky to use, but I think that's more a case of what you're used to. GIMP is good in a bind.

Nice one spiked punch. That's the one I was thinking of. You're gonna have a lot of fun with that, cave weta.

I'm guessing Gimp will have the same sort of layer-based working method as Photoshop. Usually find it best to keep different tweak types as different layers. You can then go back and forth refining things before settling on final composite. Altering opacity of different layers/changes can give you a great deal of control and subtlety.
Keep the original image open and work on a copy next to it. Easier to compare changes. A word of warning - less is more when editing photos, very easy to over do it.

FrankenHelenHiltonStein? Best to hit delete button on those two. Start with better quality source material! lol
