Id agree with what scott is saying part that i did miss the a loop before the dune section never mind done this ride for the last 4 years and never had any probs getting round or not being able to see were the track is going it all come back to riding with in or own skill level not the skill levels of others around you. just cause someone gose flyin past dost mean you have to stay on their rear wheel comon sence it a FUN RIDE NOT A RACE. (have a mate as your all aware from earlier post re:ktm that is learning that one from his old man guessing his ears will be bleeeding by now and not from the helmet being thrown at him)

i take on board some of the comments, when they are put constructivly they are always welcome, we have evolved the series since we took over it and i think it has got better.

And we'd be a very unhappy bunch if they got canned mate keep up the good work!!

we took an extra person out to mark this time, and used more dazzle and markers than last year, (approx 30% more), we do not mark the track to race spec, as it is ment to be a trail ride, And even with 3 or 4 people you can miss holes in paddocks and stumps etc, as you tend to follow the lines that suit the quads you are on at the time. but then the guy leading on a bike can be 10 metres either side pretty easily and that is where you rode the 4 wheeler when marking.

Although that hole was a surprise! I was sitting crouched down beach style caning it! By the time it appeared out of the grass I had enough time to stand and pull on the front, but not hard enough. Couldn't use power to lift the front either as I was already flat out, nothing left. Caught by my own speed I suppose. LOL!!
oh well it was a good flight till the landing! LOL!!
I also thought since I posted last that its also harder for you marking out one 80k loop than only a 35k that is ridden 4 times over. Must be a lot less time for marking stuff out. I suppose your caught between a rock and a hard place as a not so technical farm ride becomes a race track by some riders whether you like it or not. Why is speed so much fun?? LOL!

Well Scott , Craig and everyone that helped organise this ride ..a big thumbs up from me and the 10 other riders I was with, this isnt my (was my ) most favourite ride but you's have outdone yourselves ... it was crackalacking , together with just the right amount of rain .. SUPERB , apart from the forest section ( it got messy , back wheel going everywhere but where I wanted it to go) I couldnt fault it ; as for the incidents , the 450 husky that went swimming , was more of a "DOH" moment than an incident, the mate missed the 1/2 round log bridge , dropped his bike and picked it up backwards ;ie facing the rear of the bike clutch in right hand , throttle in left hand , gave the throttle a blip , let the clutch out ( why we dont know ) and the yellow and blue machine took off and became the yellow submarine , bike still idling he watched it sink till just one handgrip was left out of the water , needless to say I wont have to wear the pink fairy wings on the next ride they will be perched on "WATERBOY" riding a husqvarna, nice also to meet fellow KBers oldguy and ktm dad

I take full responsibility for my speed and the risks I took. I went to great pains to iterate that there was no criticism of the organisers in my suggestions (and that's all they are). But there was the odd surprise here and there. Hopefully my post didn't seem like a rant at Scott or blaming anyone else for the result of my own risk taking! Its just so much fun to go fast!! Even for an old bastard!

I must admit I had a few reservations about the ride, mainly due to weather.
I hate Thundercross park when its been raining and I thought the ride may have been similar, given that its basically the same type of ground.
I was pleasantly supprised with the surface, which really didnt pose any problems at all for us.
A bad start to the day, Dales gasgas fouling a plug just as we were about to leave, and then Phils wrf450 refusing to start(we were already late)
Cheers to Scott for towing Phil.
A big thumbs up to whoever it was that turned up late and assisted Dale in getting his bike going so he could meet up with us at the lunch stop and do the return run.
Re the trail marking,
I know its a fun ride, but even I was going failry quick on some of the very open parts, and I saw the "holes" beside the trail and thought "Holy shit you wouldnt want to fall in there"......
Really good ride with some very unusal scenery, we will definatly do that ride next year.

Good onya my mate DaddyCool651 you weren't even there. What actually happened was I did a hardcore superman double backflip no hander on the previous corner and missed the log bridge. FYI, the yellow submarine is running again and will be back at the front of the pack (or at least in front of steve) and at least I was at work on Monday, aye James. Worst part of the afternoon was I got sunburnt waiting for a tow and you buggers drank all the beer before I got back! H2O No for life, watch for the wings...

track is on the harder side for our riders, with some good uphils and some internal loops if you want to do some more km's, the track is about 80km long, but with a set of sand dunes to play in, and a couple of smaller internal loops

really? were they marked or were they closed after the first lead riders? i was a little bit gutted at the lack of gnarly stuff - i'm sure the ride was better last year - but to be fair i hung back with a learner friend for the first half as he was having starting issues. ditched him for the 2nd half though and it was a blast

my mate did the same track as me on his WR and only clocked 65km

yeh was god ride and yes if your wondering was one of the guys we where riding with that did the major t bone 08 450exc vs drz400 drz won bent rear sub frame, ktm cleaned out the front forks bent and steering head and frork ripped of the bike bike in two bits both walked away which was o good thing.

yeah, no prize for going fast in a straight line - i just kept half revs in top gear and stayed standing to get a better view whenever we hit the long straight stuff

though this year me and my mates stuffed up in the same place as last year and ended up lost in a paddock, we didn't get lost anywhere else and things were well marked. of course after last year i was weary of surprise bull holes.

and, now for my rant that makes me sound like a dickhead:
good ride guys - only real complaint is the same as last year; form queues people! nothing worse than finally passing that bloody quad/kid to have them and the last 50 bikes you just tore past go squeezing past at a river crossing/hill climb, where they then get stuck, and once they've "gotten out of the way" you've got to get round them again. after the river crossing i gave up being polite. sorry kids, but my bike runs like shit when it's cold, and overheats if it sits for more than 5 minutes. single file isn't hard and is the fairest way to do it.

I did see a few riders oblivious to the liquid being ejected from their bikes too - all while watching a 'race quad' bottomed out on a rock trying to get moving again. of course no-one bothered to help the guy out and get things moving again, but to be fair neither did i; i just squeezed past

(yes i do realise that we can't possibly prevent quads and kids but at the very least people could be considerate and NOT leave the lunch break until the big kids have gone out, and consider that little wheels are going to have big problems)

yea that's my dads mate, did you see him? someone said the bone was out but i don't think it was that bad, apparently he hit some slippery stuff right before a gate and lost the front and hit the fence, but he was talking to my dad after it happened

All that happened was,
The front washed out as he rode through a gate, not at any speed, he must have landed with all his weight on the shoulder and broke the collar bone.
Didnt hit any fences or anything else, just the ground.
Same thing we have all done hundreds of times and just got back up and riden on ....
Just bad luck on this occasion.
The bone is obviously broken but wasnt quite sticking out through the skin.
Apparently they just leave the bone like this nowadays ....
Ie they dont reset it .....

as for the length, we cut a bit of knarly stuff out to keep it easier after the rain on friday, so we lost a few km's that way, and also there was a section in the morning that only the first 100 or so bikes got lead though, taht would have cut another 5 off, still had some pretty big hold ups in the morning section, but with over 500km off, its always a tuff balance trying to keep it hard enough for every one to have fun, but easy enough for people to get around,

That's right Scott......for me it was one of the best rides i've done in my short riding career,my mates were in the bunch that went through the limestone and they said if i was there i would have really struggled and ruined the day for me(and them i spose as they would have to be helping me)everyone has different skills so i see your point about trying to please everyone.Which i can't understand because everyone should just be rapt to be out on your bike.Cheers to you,Craig and all involved in making it possible

totally agree mate, with the different riding skills, its always going to be hard to find a compromise, Scott, Craig and all involved do a great job, a small rural community Benefits from all of this, and we get a chance to enjoy ourselves riding in some awesome country side which we would otherwise never get the chance to ride at all.

just two questions and a conclusion there husky 1; was the no hander on landing or during the manouevre . 2; did you have time to pull a tearoff during the manouevre , conclusion ; that's why you missed the log bridge , you were freestyling ,its a trail ride dude , you're lucky you were'nt choppered out .... anyway good to hear that the yellow submarine is operational , ride hard ... fairy wings !!
