Have you considered a GSXR1300 if top speed is an issue for you?
It’s diametrically opposed to the sanitised existence of the Lemmings around me in the Dilbert Cartoon hell I live in; it’s life at full volume, perfect colour with high resolution and 10,000 watts of amplification.

For comparison my 1989 zxr250a put out 37.5 hps at the wheel while a 1993 (newly reconditioned) put out around 27-29 hps on the same dyno... That's a very significant performance drop.
I agree, my '90 ZXR(a) was significantly quicker than my mates C model (and I weighed about 20kg more). The later models were resticted for emission reasons i think (5hp less from the factory). Having said that his fuel economy was much better than mine.

For GOS sakes, DONT get an FZR 250, they do go like hell but they are prone to frequent self destruction (at least in my experience)

Havnt ridden the others much. But I've spent alot of time on my cbr and its a good reliable bike that will do almost anything. And you can treat it like a whore and it will still come back for more.

for the road choose a zxr or cbr 250. for the track get an rs250.

high powerd 2 strokes are not suited to road riding and being your main transport. they work if you take them out only in the weekends etc.
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

what was i thinking, yes get a rs250. just do it. also fit the most agressive brake pads you can buy. and save weight by draining your fork oil.

and fill the tires with nitrogen, cut the springs in it. they add weight. bald tires weigh less also, and so does a seat and exhaust

brake pads? pffft they just slow you down, dick!

    Hey all,

    Thanks for that,

Looks like the CBR/ZXR is the right direction. In terms of experience i've been riding about 8 months every day and have become a lot more confident in my riding - was fine riding a mates ZXR750. Would enjoy a two-stroke, and the RS is the looker of the bunch but really i don't have the money.

Thanks for the input - any more/offers to sell appreciated.

    Joel
