Just to give you an idea, I bought my Scrambler in Wellington and was quoted $360 door to door. I have no gripe at all with Biketranz and would use them again, but I decided to pick it up and ride it back.

I couldnt get a cheap plane fare (theiving bastards!) so wound up paying $141 one way, $15 Welly airport to city, $15 breakfast (Zippys I think it was called, in a wee street off Kent Tce) then $40 in Slowboat records (damn you!). Then pick up bike and $120 ferry ticket, another probably tenner for lunch on the boat, then gas on the way home and snackage at Kaikoura: total was pretty much exactly what I would have paid Biketranz. I did get to have an adventure though, a day out, and a nice wee ride.

He he, yeah could go kaboooompha! I agree, if it was my ferry boat I'd want someone with the bike too. I'm after a CD250.

I just did a rego check and the KM's are dodgy as and don't line up with WOF checks. So my gut feeling says to leave the bloody thing alone and wait til one comes up closer to home.....that I can go to look at and test ride with a mate who has some mechanical smarts. As mine are completely mucho zilcho!

Probly best if it's your first bike, don't want a lemon from some other part of the country
Might put ya off bikes for good
You'd have more choice up north anyway, and IMHO bikes in Nelson are Faaaarkin pricey. Lower South Isl probly has the cheapest

Glad you agree. I'm in 2 minds about the CD250 in terms of their age. Even if I bought a tidy as one, is there a higher chance of it shitting itself due to them being an older model? (Average 17 years)

I have considered spending a bit more and getting a Volty, they're a much later model than the CD250's and easier to get parts for.

I like that older style bike with the neutral riding position that I'm used to (having ridden the farm bikes since I was a nipper)

I had a budget of 2-2.5K in mind. (just for the steed).
