    W.O.F. ??

Hi, Need to do my 1st wof and not sure where to go? I'm on the shore in Torbay and I know there's Action Wreckers in Barrys Pt Rd, but is there anywhere else?

How particular are they? What are the definite 'fail' type stuff, would it be similar to a car? (ie liscense plate lights, etc)

    Help???

You could take it there, or to one of the general testing stations like VINZ, or if you can get into town, take it to Kerry @ Motohaus.

Depends where you go how thoroughly it's checked, and what they deem to be important, which is why I don't go to VINZ any more for my bike, because I know it's fine, but don't want it to get picked up for something stupid, like the fact it has a sticker on the frame saying the muffler complies with some standard or other, but the muffler on the bike isn't the one referred to on the sticker.

Reminds me - I should remove that sticker.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

There's an On Road on Poland road out the back of Glen Field. I've taken my bike there a few times before..

Most On Roads and VTNZ stations will do yer WOF while yer wait..

No, but it's not out of the question, given some of the morons I've dealt with in the past.
Had the Pajero fail before we sold it, because one of the tags on the (obviously) factory fitted seatbelts had come off.
Had it fail another time because I took the fuse out of the driving lights, because on a previous occasion they'd changed the regulations, and the tester told me to just pull the fuse out.

My bikes have almost always sailed through, but one time I had to have the steering head bearings replaced before the next test, and last time I took the VTR in the front brake pads were toast, but I got a sticker on the basis that they still worked OK, and I'd ordered new ones for it.
    ... and that's what I think.

My CBR250 failed on it's 'floating discs'.. The tester didn't like the movement in the discs and calipers and told me they were dangerous. I didn't think they were, since it stopped on a 5¢ every time, but got them checked all the same. Got the ok from 2 bike shops, so went back. Still a nope.. and it's on record, so I couldn't go elsewhere to get it done. So had to spend $400 on another pair of discs, and sorting out the calipers. Went back a third time to show the guy, and he wasn't there!! Another guy came to look at it, so I explained the story, he then said
'Oh, he doesn't know what he's on about there.. that's not a fail at all...'
"So can I have my $400+ you lot made me spend?"
"Nah, sorry.. if you got money off us, everyone would be at it.. not worth even asking..."

Bloody hell! I bet you were blowing steam out your ears on that one!
I bet he would've freaked out at the brakes on the VifFerraRi then, with their peculiar sliding hingey thingo (tech term) left caliper bracket doofer (another tech term).

I would lay a complaint with the LTSA enforcement people. Get his ticket pulled...
The testing station people seem to be particuarly moronic, especially the ones in West Auckland (Moselle Ave, Henderson). Had a couple of fails there, that had nothing wrong with them.
I would also have waited for a month (unless you needed the bike for daily transport), until after the recheck period, and gone elsewhere for another WOF. ALthough it is on recodrd, if it is actually OK, no probs - you fixed it in the month

You can go anywhere else and get a WoF,just because you failed somewhere, doesn't mean you can't go somewhere else and get a pass - you just have to pay again....still cheaper than new discs though eh?

Nah, the guy there is pretty good.

One just needs the magic little warrant sticker, after all. Who cares where it comes from.
