    fog city, oxford or other?

Well for the last 4yrs I have used the Lazer pinlock system which is a smaler visor inside the std Lazer helmet visor, and it was bloody great.
However I now have a new lid as of last week, now I fitted a fogcity into it and I am sure that it was sealed well. On the 1st day it was fine but after a nite in the tent (a wee bit damp/duey) condensation formed between the visor and FC... it would not clear so I ripped it out and hiffed it into the bushes, $30+ bucks wasted.

I have noticed 2 other brands, 1 I cant bloody remember what it was the other a Oxford....... what do you guys use/reconmend?
and any idea what went wrong with the FC?
    cheers DD

Dangerouse, when driving busses with shity demisters I use to carry with me a small bottle of hair shampoo that had glycerine. I would wipe the inside of the window with the shampoo and then wipe all of it off with a clean paper towel. Try this but do not use the paper towl just a soft cloth so as not to scratch the visor. The shampoo must be glycerine based and it is this that prevents the formation of condensation. This works.

Also have a pro grip. When I first put it on, after the first day, it got some condensation inside. Carefully took it off, dried everything in the sun, carefully wiped the surfaces of visor and insert, then reattached it. Its been fine for the last 1 1/2 yrs! Bloody great in fact.

hehe my old man was going to do the same with his FOGCITY, but i looked and noticed that there is 2 protective layers to peel off one on each side, then it works perfectly, still have it at it works 6 years later (inc 2 cold kiwis)
Hope you didnt chuck a perfectly good one away.
But i got a Pro-Grip tinited job, and they work good too., plus they look cooler.
anything is better than gladwrap (yes i was once a very poor person with a THH helmet)

I personally use Fog City in one lid and pinlock in another.
IMO Pinlock (Nolan) is by far the superior, then Fog City. The Progrip has a huge gap between it and the visor which leads to a heap of internal reflections. The polychromatic Progrip is 1/3 the price of the equivalent Fog City... The one I had stopped changing the degree of tint a few weeks after I fitted it.

The trick with fitting either the Progrip or Fog City is to make sure everything is absolutely clean and dry. Use a new visor, cleaned with meths and a very soft, clean cloth. Keep them in the hot water cupboard for a day with some silica gel if the weather is humid.

Also, Fog City make a Shoei version - it has a better adhesive than the standard - use this.
ACC - It's where the Enron accountants all went.

Had a fog city that I used when I used to commute. Worked well, but after a while it got moisture underneath like you. I also found it difficult to clean without scratching it.
Then I bought some special antifog spray. Also worked well but was pricey and it had to be applied very evenly. I've still got it if you want to give it a try.
Then someone told me about sunlight liquid. Just put a small drop on a rag and rub it on your visor. Polish it up till you can't see any smears and it will work for a days ride in the wet.

As a bespectacled biker I have double trouble with in-helmet fogging -- the visor and my specs. The visor is the easy bit, thanks to Mr Shoei's excellent ventilation system and the ingenious "half-click" release system. Spectacle fogging, however, is an entirely different problematic matter...

OPSM sell a glass cleaner that does a good job of keeping the fog away.

Indeed. I have nothing to do with the design of this system. But thanks for this. It explains a cryptic post from last evening.

If you’re not careful the reputation points system will be labelling you as some sort of motorcycling deity
