Im sure a place like that would have insurance to cover such an event. They could give em a good old steam clean..good as new.
Bad news either way though...real sad stuff.
Edit -That annoys me!And it wasn't insured.

1990 GSXR 750 - want one, can be crap, can be awesome....pm me.
Yes it was the Museum just out of Kawakawa,
About 10kms from the Kawakawa junction, Heading to Opua / Paihia. Just passed the rugby clubrooms and over the old railway track ( watch that corner, seen a few bins there ). Just over the bridge on the left hs.
A nice little museum about old bikes and steam engines. Awesome for the old enthusiest who knows a bit about engines and classic bikes. Also some old army type paraphenalia.
I've got a usiness card somewhere, so I'll have a hunt and post back if I fnd it.
Give you guys a phone number to call and arrange donations / visits etc.

Thanks ppl. I might contact them at some time and see how they are going. Not much I can do but even if they see this they will know people care.
Wrote to Sunbeamland Museum and asked for their bank A/c details so that I could make a small donation to help restore their M/c museum and their faith.
This is the reply (and pic) and I reckon these guys would really appreciate a dollar or two from youse guys too. That's what motorcyclists do - help each other!
Cheers
Bill
Hi, thank you for taking an interest, yes any contribution would help greatly Thank you. Our bank is ASB Paihia, ac 123-0900054857-01 R&L Crowden . We have got to do some serious stabilisation before the hill moves again. This will definitely help
Have you been to the museum? No permanant damage to bikes or guns etc YET ,
The bikes are out & muddy but look great. The building is seriously damaged. thank you again ,Roger
We got hit with cyclone Bola back in the 80's and that is what it was like. We started with 125 paddocks and after the rain we had 8 and lots of holes in the boundary fences. The mud was like that. In and on everything. Touch it and if it wasn't muddy before it was after. Cheers for the contact. Think I will send them a few $$'s as well.
Got this from Roger tonight. Not only do they have the mud to worry about but have a read. A few pic's as well.
"North District council" however have served us with a notice to get a
building permit, geotechnical report & assessment by 20 th april and
complete all work by 20th May . (Except that we are offically banned from
the museum.(!)(as if)(Yes we are lodging a complaint & going to the
newspaper.)We are beginning to pick up mud encrusted TT motors from the 20s and hope to get enough firewood to fire up the traction engine tomorrow or the next day so we can move it out & see whats underneath..."
Good people doing good things.
Guys like Roger are doing a great job by preserving these machines so that your kids and mine can see how it was. And not by just seeing pics. You guys are probably like me and not going to be restoring old bikes any time soon but we CAN HELP Roger financially by sending him some dosh. I've just sent him some. Not that much, but if every one here on KB sends something, hey, you will have a good day.

I don't think they will ever get rich. But just feeling sorry for 'em will not get the job done!
