( I actually decided in the end I liked it cos it's a bit "different" looking! )

Actually I'll fess up that I SERIOUSLY looked at that 89 DR750BIG on TM, but decided with my inexperience offroad I was probably best advised to go for the DR650 as I know I won't be happy if I'm not getting off on some gnarly tracks sometimes! (ooh err that didn't come out quite right, but you know what I mean! )

And YES the Tenere & DRBIG are both definitely cool in my book!

Seriously, if you can you should try one. Very forgiving bike imho.
My Dual pupose riding experience consists of about 4mths on an F650 before I got the BIG.Depends what you want to do with it
Mind you I'm about 6'4 and not skinny

And 650's are common, people don't stare at em and come and ask about them when your parked up somewhere

I still look at the listing and think "maybe I could" but in my heart I know I need to not go to quite that big a bike (yet!). Hence I'll be getting a DR650 most likely.

Your Africa Twin looks great even with only 1 1/2 wheels!!!!!!!

Actually it makes Jatz's BIG look small!

IMHO You can learn on a heavy bike ... I started on F650Dakar around two years ago or less and I'm reasonable happy with how much I learned (not much some can say but I was definitely worst) ...

...but it would have been easier on a lighter bike (clearly as long as u try to learn good riding technics).

    Cheers,
    Pampa

'course you can, you won't regret it, unless you wan't to do single track

    check out this thread

edit: that pic was taken before the new shock went in, the rear was reeeeal saggy, but they're not that big a bike
edit #2: and you dont need an aftermarket tank + all the other stuff, just get on and ride.

    are you convinced yet ?

Yeah I read every damn page on that thread the other night LOL!!!!!!

And yes I will be wanting to do some occasional single track - Junkmanjoe will not let me get out of that I'm sure!!!

One of the reasons I seriously considered the BIG was that the plan is to do a tour of the South Island by at the latest immediately after the 2010 DB1k and the BIG looks great for that!
