A ride on my mate's Harley

Went out for a meal with my mate and our partners at the Speights Ale House last nite. As we talked about bikes in general, I said to my mate that I recently took a 1995 Yamaha 850 twin for a test ride. Was blown away by the sound of a twin and the torque was something else !!! My mate said why dont you take my 2004 Harley for a spin next Sunday?.........I was like ...Fuck yeah!!!!...He said after you been a on a Harley, you wont want go back on a Sportsbike.....Hhhhmmmm we will see so anyone else have a similar experience? By the way I own a 1991 Yamaha 400 Diversion which is just a commuter bike so this will be a big step up for me

In a perfect world I'd have a half dozen bikes and go back to all of them.

Yep. Dare to live the dream.....

I've ridden a Harley that I wouldn't buy, but I've never ridden one I didn't like. It depends what you want the bike for, at the end of the day.

Hang on, Skidmark will be here soon to tell us that it will break down and blah blah blah.

Mum and dad are both harley fanatics, have had them around me my whole life. I remember one of dads bikes he managed to pick up extremely cheap because some idiot put this tiny little part in the wrong way round so the bike never run as it should. Being mechanically minded it never took him long to figure out what was actually wrong and he ended up with yet another bike that he loved.

Mum even has a sign for the garage "harley parking only all other bikes will be crushed." She hasn't had mine crushed yet Though she took my bike for a ride and absolutely hated the position she was forced into to actually be able to ride it.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with them. At the end of the day its all down to personal preference. What one person likes, someone else will hate. Its just how it is. Let us know how the ride goes. And who knows you might just be pleasantly suprised!

    Cool - you'll enjoy it.

Just don't expect too much, then you'll enjoy it even more.

They are what they are, and they are the complete opposite spectrum of the biking world to a sportbike so his comment is really a load of shit.

If you want to get a real debate going with him - take a Suzuki, Kawa, etc cruiser of the same capacity out and compare that to his Harley

I love Harleys, but doubt I would every buy one. You will love the obvious build quality and beautiful sound, but like any bike you get used to them quite quickly and then look for something better. I still find cruisers awkward.

The exhaust tone never gets old, And quality is there for the life of the bike, So I can't agree with those points.

    Expect greatness.

Just don't expect a sports bike.

Good idea about the other cruisers, None of them close to capturing what they are trying so hard to imitate so the HD will shine.

Bear in mind that it is just another bike and that is all it is. If it does it for you then great. Not better or worse just different. Bit like women really! ahem....best I get going
