Strange that is is able to be registered as a moped, as the rule that applies there says that the machine must not have a top speed exceeding 50 kmh.

There's plenty of upgraded 50cc's around still rego'd as mopeds...they just gotto get thru the first VIN inspection as restricted scoots/bikes. It's not hard to do the mods after that, and open them up.
Ya just don't go hooning around too much and attract the attention of PC Plod. I even know of a Honda Lead 150 here that is rego'd as a moped....go figure!
