Smile Free Love for Welly City Council Parking

I've noticed recently that the Wellington City Council have been increasing the number of bike parks in the CBD. The parking wardens are also taking an incredibly common-sense approach to parking on the kerb. I make a habit of checking with them whether I am in a "safe" place and universally they have been friendly and said something like "if it isn't in the way it's ok, and thanks for asking"
I've just sent them an e-mail praising this sensible approach. I challenge those with similar positive stories to do the same. A little love can go a long way.

I want some free love dammit

BUT more than that I WANT scroter riders to have a little more fucking thought about the way they park!!!!

ATTENTION SCROTER RIDERS: top tips for parking in bike parks.

You don't need just less than a metre between you and other scooters...YOU DO however need at least 1/2 a metre between you and any REAL bikes.

WHY? Real bikes most often have to lean over slightly when parked - so parking up real close on both sides of real bikes (just cos you can step through and have a centre stand) IS NOT COOL. Next time that fuckwit (who parks under the MSD building in Wellington with the oh so gay soft baby green and white vespa) does it to me again I'm going to be forced to 'move' your piece of shit myself while in the grip of a hulk out moment. Next time I will not be patient and almost stuff up my back trying to manouevre my bike out of the park without scratching your dumb looking piece of crap...I will instead take it off the stand and lie it on it's side or something even more damaging. GET IT!!! I do hope you read KB ya wanker!

fully agree, number one! i hate parking in town due to scooterists who think its ok to completely block another bike in. instead, i park a block away and walk. generally theres only one scooter and my bike using it, which suits fine.

    Dear Mark,

Thank you for your email on Thursday 19 February giving us positive feedback regarding management of motorcycle parking in Wellington City.

It is always greatly appreciated to receive compliments and we have forwarded your email on to the Parking Enforcement Team for their attention.

Again, thank you for your feedback. If we can be of further assistance, Mark, or you have any questions about the Wellington City Council and our services please call our 24 hour Customer Contact Centre on ph: (04) 499 4444 or email: info@wcc.govt.nz.

    Kind regards,

    Kathleen

There's your problem. Get a bike with a centre stand. Then you can park with the rest of us.

Sweet. I got one of those too. With any luck it will have a small influence on how we are treated by the council and the wardens. It certainly can't hurt and they deserve to be told when they do good stuff.

Its been fantastic .. there are lots of new parks .. we have had some real advocates working in the infrastructure team ... but those two have now gone ... I am sure Nudes and I will find another person to work on.

Tried to give you some green for this but alas, I need to spread some more around first. Just let me know when you do this and I will come and help. I'm sure we can reach the harbour if we try.
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker

I'm just disappointed Mr oh so gay light green and white vespa isn't a KBer...btw HE AND ALL THE OTHER SCROTER riders that park there are clearly all afraid of a bit of rain...me and 4 other REAL bikes had the whole park to ourselves today.

Yeah! My place was also free of scroters today.
However, I did drag the old girl out for a spin today as she hasn't seen the light of day for over a month since the new sexy young thing appeared in the garage.

I mean... I didn't want the young thing getting all wet and needing polished again
