Okey dokey, following the rebuild, new airfilters and a new clutch cable the CR "or should I name her" has a flat spot at high revs, torque down low is good, power comes on much as before but with more of a kick. BUT... 3/4 through power band theres a flat spot for about 1.5 seconds then takes off again it is more noticeable in the high gears.

Would this have to do with the RC valve adjustment...?? or is it a tuning thing now that it has a new piston???

New piston shouldn't really have any effect on tuning at all!
Firstly was the problem there in your first ride (you didn't mention it) or has it developed since.

It could have something to do with the power valve not working properly if that loose bolt is jamming the arm. Your manual said they where a self adjusting servo motor but re read it in case that actuator arm has to be put at a set angle.
Other than that you could strip and clean the carb to make sure no shit got in there when we had it apart it was pretty dirty in that air box and the filter looked like it may have been at the point the foam was maybe breaking down so there might be a bit of that floating around in the carb.

I haven't had anything to do with those RC power valves on the CR my 01 was a manual one so Booom may be able to add something here. Send him a PM and alert him to the thread.

A new piston won't cause a flat spot its either something done during the job or something that's developed since.
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

for those that may be able to help here goes. the adjuster cable with the threaded end has broken has snapped (wear and tear)... ive put the adjuster nuts back on the remainder of the thread so it all sits tight 1 nut inside and 1 nut outside, i spose this means there is no adjustment available and it may now be tighter than previous. Can anyone tell me if the RC valve is self adjusting, and if I buy a new cable am I "mechanically illiterate" going to be able to adjust to the correct position or is it simply a case of trial and error. chairs..darryl

you can cock up the cable tension on the power valve actuator. Check it. THe cables are only $20 and they are a common item to break on CR's. Its its worn just get a new oene and fit it.
