    Signs between bikers?

    Hi,
I'm a french biker and I just arrived in february in Auckland from France. I can't live without a bike so i'm looking for THE one when money will come, Suz 1200 ss may be (goooood engine). But I have a question for the kiwi bikers: In france (and europe as well) we use to make a sign to other bikers with the left hand, and say to gentle cardrivers, who let us pass them, with the right foot. But here we drive on the other side, and I don't know if there some habbits like that. Please let me know and enjoy the road carefully.

Hi welcome to the site and to New Zealand. We generally wave to other bikers or nod our heads in acknowledgement. Keep us updated on when you get your bike and we'll look forward to seeing you on a KB ride.

    Welcome to KB.

To bikes we wave with our left hand, to cars we usually select one or two fingers only and wave more in a vertical motion.

A wave is generally fine in most cases, even to cars that allow an easy pass.

Had a signal from another biker a while back, first finger in the air swirling around, though it was a funny wave, but he was signaling that a cop was further up the road - good signal!

I am surprised Riff Raff, of all people, overlooked the fart. Both savoury and unsavoury, sometimes simultaneously. Real skill!

Bienvenue à ce beau pays. :spudwave:

En général les personnes ondulez à une une autre, ou inclinez la tête. Elles n'emploient pas leur pied cependant pour remercier des conducteurs de voiture. Thats une chose Européenne.

    Arrow Hello.

Well I generally wave to other riders with my left hand as its easier to free up or nod if I can't use my left hand. For considerate drivers I wave or give the thumb up. Otherwise I would at least toot in apreciation of their courtisy (sp)

I thought I'd let him ease into the site and get gently entangled in it's net before letting rip...

Ah, but now they come more slowly -- 200 between drinks now, apparently...

Waow, quick reply means quick reply, thank you very much. I will try to do all you told me, then if you see someone who makes many signs on his bike, it's me... I will let you know when I will get my bike and I hope you will show me your favourites kiwi roads. Thanks a lot.

Excellent, viff. A picture paints a thousand words, so you just saved yourself 7000 of the buggers (and saved us from having to read 'em)
