Hi, I guess I was the first back but got there 20' mins late in a hurry and manage to catch the guys after the second stream crossing heading onto the pram track on the first steep part.

It was there when we could hear something that didn't seem to be another bike or a quad and was indeed not. It was a group of 4x4, first 4 10' behind 25 or so more ...

Anyway I got up to the (almost) orange hutt and head back in a hurry to get to my next commitment, all good fun in an awesome ride and nice to catch up with the guys and meet Paladin.

Had a couple of scary moments heading back at as much speed as I could (not much really fast for most) when the rear was caught on a rock and the whole bike jumped sideways a fair bit thankfully was quick enough so I didn't have time to backout of the throttle

    Cheers,
    Pampa

Nice to meet you Pampa (finally!) - hopefully for a longer ride next time! Was good to see an X Challenge up close & personal too!

    kool ride

great ride - good company - nice to have Pampa make it along - shame JMJ was unable to make it - something about securing xtra fuel - Joe we all look forward to your 'rapa ride next Sat I'm sure.

Thanks Balrog for taking Paladin and me around to the Orange Hut and out via Hydro Rd - that Hydro Road section was cool this afternoon.

As always Balrog shows his class punting the 1150GSA around - he deserves a Monteiths!

Looking fwd to the pics you took Jim - when you're ready.

Have a great week folks - Ciao Aslan

PS - biggest challenge of this ride is avoiding the young bucks airborne and sideways aboard their MX machines - and the odd quad rider unwilling to give any quarter. In contrast we found the 4WD folks really courteous and considerate.

It took a while despite the fact that we live very close ... I should probably ride more ... well may be in another life ...

If u r keen to try the G650X let me know, ONLY thing is that u need to promise to keep the front down

    Cheers,
    Pampa

BTW thanks Aslan for organising again Karapoti is always a nice ride ... at least if u can dodge the quads and those MX that seem to like the place to become mountain bikers only .

As usual Is Balrog the only one with pix ... hope he manage to catch part of the beauty it was the bush today
