    Wrong on all counts.

There is no such breed as an Alsatian - They are German Shepherd Dogs, Alsatian is just a name that was coined during WW2 as the 'German' tag was deemed offensive in some quarters...

As the name implies they were originally bred as working dogs and their primary role was herding sheep.
They are extremely intellingent, obedient and loyal with a very strong protective nature, hence their suitabilty for Police work.

Running at a dog that is bred to protect is highly unadvisable, however if you wish to experiment by all means be my guest....

Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. After that, who cares? ...He's a mile away and you've got his shoes

Coined during WW1 I think. Comes from the Alsace region between Germany and France.
The greatest pleasure of my recent life has been speed on the road. . . . I lose detail at even moderate speed but gain comprehension. . . . I could write for hours on the lustfulness of moving swiftly.

I love your WW1 stories as much as the Boer war ones, great to see an old soldier like you still riding....
