    Cyclists in lycra

What is it with cyclists on the back roads? Was riding back from Akaroa today and on the piece of road between Gebbies Pass and the Wheatsheaf I came across 2 female career cyclists all dressed up with nowhere to go. As I came up behind them at 100ish kmh, one of them decided the left side of the lane was not enough space to ride in, and swerved out to about 1 mtre to the left of the centreline. UNBELIEVABLE!
I actually had to swerve to the wrong side of the road to avoid a rearender, checked my mirror and she was giving me the finger!!!!!!
anyone else struck similar attitudes with cyclists?

Generally pretty good with me, but then again i'm not in many backroads.
I think they can hear me at 50k's, nd it gives them enough time to know when to hug the kerb.

You, however, may have been quiet, and fast. Quiet, most probably not, but still fast
Some people just can't seem to comprehend that they do not have the right to be unoffended in their lives.

had the same thing on the same road exept they were spread out over the whole road and round a blind corner if i was in cage there would be a couple less cyclists as i wouldnt have been able to get out of there way (they coming toward me)

the difference is motorcycles travel at the same speed as the rest of the traffic on the road, cyclists travel 2 or 3 abrest at 15 to 20 ks

They are really bad on that road. its not wide enough for a car and a bike side by side so for some reason they tend to try to take up the whole road thus stopping them from having a car beside them. you would think they would ensure that they didnt force cars onto the wrong side of the road.

So there's the clue, slow down right in behind them and just follow right up behind their sweet lycra clad arses working away until they might get the message and give you room (or something like that) .
    Cheers

Last time I saw a bunch of lycra clad road warriors in Palmy they were in a big ass group hogging most of a lane, most of the tin top traffic were swinging into the other lane to avoid them, which made it pretty dodgy for me with 2 lines of traffic in 1.5 lanes and me in the gutter (going in the other direction to them on my MTB).. they passed some kids who were abusing them (which I found rather hard case), the kids shouted to me "you are going the wrong way, your mates are back there", "fuck that" I says, "those guys are homos".

    Which they are.. Fuckin roady's.

Nope - they're a vehicle so they are entitled to a full lane like any other vehicle.

Unless of course you think they are not in which case they are pedestrians so people should stop whining about them running red lights.
In space, no one can smell your fart.
