Another one, listed under classic and vintage
    http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/moto...-671679143.htm

The ad is a bit confusing, the price says $6900, but then lower down he says $8900. There are pics of 2 different bikes the same colours, and he says he has a 3rd to sell also.

Didn't know boxers were made this small

    BMW R45 1979

R45, the smallest of the "air heads". Basically an R65 with smaller pots

Most likely it is all he can handle

I think they were made to fit a particular insurance bracket

It's probably a bit light for a R1100GS. At this stage I am going to mount it up to the DR.

The ad is a bit confusing, the price says $6900, but then lower down he says $8900. There are pics of 2 different bikes the same colours, and he says he has a 3rd to sell also.

Yesterday I went to Whitianga to have a look at this bike. The advertisement was indeed confusing but he said he couldn't be naffed to list two bikes...and pay, more the reason I think.
Anyway, the bike in question for $8900 is the well farkled one, Ohlins etc. The one I had a look at is the 1991, with brand new Hagon shock and new battery, new recovered seat and painted engine protectors etc etc. It is a very tidy bike and I took it for a ride. Apart from a squeaky front brake, it was a pleasure to roll on the throttle and be comfortable.
Needless to say, the ad now has had the photos removed of the 1991 and the other bike is the one for sale. The thing is, he hasn't updated the listing price, so it is still confusing for some, but at lewast the photos now are of the bike that IS still for sale.
The reason for selling is he has a buggered hip and needs an operation, poor fella. He also has a beaut Transalp in the garage.

Unfortunately the Hagon shock heads have a nasty reputation (on GS's at least) for breaking off. Welded onto the shock body.

I saw that on ADV, it was back in 2009 and the shock had already done over 12000 miles? Has there been recent catastrophes? I am sure there has been some bad experiences, the shock after all is only about $700, not a Ohlins at $1400 Have Ohlins failed? Gotta be better than standard surely...

Well, I cannot do much about that, one thing that does help is that it is brand new, so will come with a warranty. I will make sure I get receipts from the seller on it. Thanks for the heads up. After reading and reading last night and this morning, I have found some good information and some things that just scare the hell out of me. Mind you, wasn't too different from Orange Crush either for the LC4...

Over on UKGSer as well. Rob Farmer personally had this experience, & I trust him to know which side is up. Also a few of the other Pommie riders.

Anything said on ADVrider check, I potentially take with a grain of salt (dependent on who it is). They would have you travelling with a semi trailer of (un-needed) spares. There are some good blokes & chappettes there though.

    Just ride them....
I see a page written by

    http://bmwmotorcycletech.info/techni...icles-list.htm

The guy is buried in snow 7 months of the year...
No wonder he has written such a great "War & Peace" web page for BMW...
Nothing to do, but grow a beard and bury yourself in the man cave drinking Miller lite...
Great to read, nice information.....BUT, if I read that and followed it, I would be a basket case and will buy a model BMW to sit in front of the computer and never ride..

On another note, can I get my nipples re-chromed? While there, rims and spokes too? Anyone know of any local guys in the Waikato that can turn ugly duckling wheels into this BMW Swan?
